Why does my Oculus client open when I launch ED (not using the Oculus in it)? Why are they bound togethor?

Yes setting the program as run with administrator does work, but has it's own annoying side effects:-
1) It means Oculus doeesn't run itself when you put the head set on. So you need to manually run Oculus.
2) When you run oculus, you get asked by windows for permission to run it.

These are possibly more annoying that Oculus simply loading up in the background for ED (even when not using the Oculus).

well, it definitely does run with admin privilege, which could have serious implications if there happens to be an exploitable hole in the software. yes, i know windows users do that regularly without hesitation. no, i don't know of any such exploit atm. but i still find it worth pointing out. there's a reason for access control ...

Well given this... and the negative side effects (see #21)... and I'm not really playing ED anyway, I've left it as it (without Admin rights).

Ark: Survival Evolved also fires up the Oculus Home software. Oculus just opens and runs in the background; the headset doesn't turn on or light up etc.

OH needs a page with each app and checkboxes so it can remember to start OH or not at your preference.

Ah, I suppose that makes sense

. I'm glad that I am able to stay in the Rift for hours without needing a break. So far I haven't suffered from any adverse effects. Several friends have, though - I let a couple of them drive the SRV round a planet, and they could only take a few minutes before complaining of feeling sick.

New feature in the Oculus client - right click on a game and select "run in desktop mode". This thing is becoming less and less obnoxious every day.

Yes exactly. I can't drive SRV very good. This is the killer for me. Flying is much more easy. Well but I'm very confident, that it will get better:

Trainig of the neck-muscles
Learning, what I can do and what I can't
I'm older 48
