Why does the enhanced Xeno scanner not update the Codex?

So we've now got a new and fancy Enhanced Xeno Scanner to scan all things Thargoid but to get the Codex to update you still have to do a Composition Scan - Seems like the Xeno Scanner would more than fulfil the role of the Composition Scanner - by the time you've done the Xeno Scans and then a Composition scan your hull is about 50% of where it needs to be to fight the little blighters - surely a scan with the new fangled Xeno scanner should update the Codex or does one run on Unix and the other Mac/Windows and no-one's bothered to write an API....

If it was enhanced and specified detecting plastic as well as metal, then yes.
But if it just claims to detect metal faster, I'll still need 2, won't I?

They increased the range of the Xeno Scanner because now the little blighters are instantly hostile the range was difficult to get the scans with so the enhanced increased the range to 2000m. But the range on the Composition scanner is 1000m plus they don't stay still like they used to to get the scan, plus the information the Xeno Scanner gives you is the same information that the Composition scanner gives you i.e. the Thargoid variant, all be it that the Xeno scanner gives you target information for hearts etc. for the larger Thargoids.

Since they have specifically given us the Enhanced scanner to help scan the blighters from more of a distance because of their new hostile nature plus the info to the Composition scanner is the same or more enhanced you'd think that either the Enhanced scanner would update the Codex since the info is the same or they'd also increase the range of the Composition scanner for the same reasons they enhanced the Xeno scanner, like I said if you think your piloting skills are up to it and you want to go toe-to-toe with a Hydra @ 1000m without being able to shoot back to update the Codex and you think you're hull can withstand the onslaught, best of luck - you're gonna need it!

BTW you're metal detector would at least highlight the metal screws/nails holding your plastic pipes in place so you could at least know roughly where they are ;)

The non warzone Thargoid NHSS contain Thargoids that are not instantly hostile. Plenty of opportunity to tick the boxes in the Codex.

My home has had a gas pipe ran to it this weekend - it is made of plastic - there is no way a metal detector would sense it for the 200 yards it runs from the (plastic) main pipe - but another tool is made for the job... Funny how one needs a specific tool to serve a specific purpose, isn't it?

And there ain't any plastic detectors either - the tool you crafted I take it is called a long non-stabby stick :)

Yeah I know about the older sites where you can get the scans but its a case of being lucky that the right bug turns up or a lot of re-logging grind... - I was just pointing out that fixing one thing causes an issue elsewhere (or that the solution hadn't been fully thought through) plus the stupidity of having a scanner that doesn't update the rather underused and pretty useless Codex, a nice idea that really hasn't lived up to the expectations it had in conception, which is a shame (a lot like other things in ED sadly).
