Why doesn't FD store carry ship models?

Pretty sure they were mentioned as a thing that was in progress and there was a picture of a cobra on someones desk. Wait till all the mugs have been sold. Give me 25mm scale and a paint brush and you will be pleased with the results. I'd start with a camo Onion head Cobra.

Actually it might look rubbish

I got fed up waiting and built this Cobra from plastic card using the card models as a template, it's still very much a work in progress as you have to make all the parts before you can assemble them, so lots of cutting, sanding, filing and filling and more sanding still to do ........................ ;)

Looking good!

I've been wanting to try my hand at scratch building one of the ships since I started playing. I keep saying once I clear my bench of current projects, but the problem is that never happens lol.

Nice work sir, that's a killer scratchbuild.

You know you have to light up the second one. Get those thrusters and heat vents kicking out some LED goodness.

Thanks for the comments guys :), the card models are a good starting point for building but I found the plastic version needs a lot of internal structure/bulkheads (light plastic or composite (plastic, glue and filler) perhaps ;)), there's easily 30 hours in it so far a bit like in game trading but more fun!

For what it's worth I've raised this particular idea a few times. I know people at a few (small scale) model and miniature companies and wish I could connect them and Frontier to get this done.

Oh, yes
for me diecast metal models please, not too big though
would buy instantly, especially Faulcon DeLacy and Gutamaya models

Thanks! although there's still a lot to do, assuming a wingspan of 130 feet the scale is around 1:175 which is a seriously non standard scale, this means it's unlikely that any after aftermarket components would be the correct scale size so back to scratch building!

Funny this comes up, I'm just painting up some 3D-printed models this week. Started off with some quick Viper and Sidewinder prints...

Eventually going to do a full-scale Anaconda (in chunks, obviously, and glue it together)...!

P.S. Don't anyone ask me for the models, I've no desire to get on the wrong side of FD so it won't happen ;)

Still got the underside to paint, but...

My detail painting isn't great, a new experience for me, but happy enough with the result...!
