Why doesn't my Mothership Fire when I'm in my SLF?

I give the order when I'm in my SLF to Fire and it just sits there... waiting... watching...

I have an Elite Pilot, and she flies alongside me with no problem. Once I have a target selected, and use the "attack target", it only seems to work when I'm in my Main ship, but never when I'm in my Fighter.

(additional info) When I'm in my fighter, as soon as I hit the target and they become hostile, she immediatly starts attacking. Almost like she's waiting for me to get the first shot.

I just want to know if there's a problem on my end before I raise a Bug. Anyone know, it'll be much appreciated.

Steps:
I Launch in SLF
I Find Target in SLF (Crewmate follows with no issue)
Order "Attack Target" and Crewmate confirm to follow order but sits there
I Fire one shot and make target hostile
Crewmate immediately starts attacking
During fight, I can order them to attack any hostile target with no problem

I Fly a Type-10 and use Turreted beam lasers, and two medium missiles

I would like to send my Mothership after the bigger ship and take aggro from the wing as I fight the smaller ones but with this system, I can't do so, or I'll take the aggro since I have to attack the wing first.

Do you have a pilot active?
What order are you giving? Fire at will only attacks hostile ships, fire at target will be ignored if you don't have anything targeted at the time.

Is there an NPC Crew in your Main ship?

but regardless, the Crew AI has been skrewy in the last 2 updates, I tell my Elite ranked crew to "follow" and it just sits there picking its nose

Yeah, I have a pilot active: She's an Elite one.

Yeah, I have a target selected. I switch to the Mothership and then she fires away in the SLF, when the fight is over and I switch back to the SLF and order her to "Attack Target" on a new target she sits there...

Basically it works when I'm in my Main ship, but not the other way around.

Prove it with a screenshot because I do not believe you have your pilot onboard and it doesn't respond.
It never happened to me and anyone I know.

I had issues with power management with SLFs before, my crew did power down the gauss cannon of the Lance and then disobeyed attack orders "impossible".

Check your power management.

Just because it never happened to you or anyone you know, doesn't mean it never happened. It's a little hard because I'm on an Xbox and don't know computers too well to add pictures and clips and all that.

Just repeat what I did let me know what you find.

Power management is fine. She goes stupid at times, like saying "I can't do that", but usually I can fix it with changing ships or Unassigning and reassigning her. But this particular problem has yet to go away, and she she says "Roger Commander, ready to engage.

Just make photo by cellphone, of you bottom panel where you lunch SLF.

I use SLF regularly, every week. Also I switch from mother ship to SLF often.
It happens sometimes that Mother Ship doesn't react, but only when I just forget to set pilot active on station :)

Hmmm. Another reason can be missing ammunition, but I can't believe you wouldn't notice that :D

NPC Pilots can be very buggy. Have had many sessions where they flat-out refuse to do anything. Just happened with the session I played. Been that way for many months, if not longer.

I use beams so no problem in that department. It's weird, she sits there and once I get the first hit with my fighter, she magically comes to life and starts firing. It's like she's waiting for me to attack first...

That's what bugs me (no pun intended) my crew mate works just fine when I'm in my Mothership. When they're in the SLF, they attack first with no problem.

But when they're in the Mothership, they confirm my order but either follow my target or sits there until I attack first.

I don't want to put on my tinfoil hat on why this is the case, but I don't think this is a bug, I think it's an intentional way of making sure you don't "boost" your Crewmate by letting them take ALL the experince from killing enemy ships by themselves with your ship.

With the insane number of bugs and poor design that ED is comprised of, I'd would go with incompetence/apathy. Also, I have more often encountered the Insubordinate NPC bug when they are in the SLF as I rarely man the SLF.

If it's true what you say, then it sounds like Classic Frontier.

What a time we live in. I bet Frontier's store is working correctly.

Could be a weapons issue.

If you've got FC's fitted, for example, and the NPC decides to use them but then can't get close enough to fire.

Maybe try swapping out all your weapons for straightforward lasers/MCs and see if the NPC uses them.

A few days ago a friend and me were messing around in our fighters and noticed our AI were only using the energy weapons on or ships and not the projectile weapons. It was taking forever for the AI to kill ships because they just wouldn’t use our Multicannons at all.

Funny thing: That's exactly what's fitted. They fire as SOON as my target becomes hostile, but only if I get the first shot off while in my fighter. This is some spooky stuff...
It works the other way around, though. When they're in my fighter, they'll fire at everything i dare look at, but when they're in the mothership, they wait for ME to attack even after I tell them to attack
