Why don't NPC ships use the paint jobs available in the store?

As the title suggests, i feel for the npc's, same bland paint jobs on their ships with no option to change it. So why don't npc ships utilise the paint jobs on offer? It would certainly brighten up the place and inject some much needed colour and variety, which is sadly lacking from all the npc vessels.

They are poor because they are always killed. :(

Flimley is quite right as i forgot about those, yes ship kits. It would be so nice to see other ships utilising them. FD are dropping the ball on this i think, it's like the difference between watching black and white telly (TV), and watching colour.

"If NPC and player ships Don`t use the paint jobs available in the store"

Can we have an option to Slim down the MB`s on the HDD/SDD. (wasted space)

If players encounter paint job`s can we temporary D/L the files, once exited ED the temp files are deleted.
( Old Combat sim`s used to do this. (CFS 1-2-3 for example)) Or
just display stock.

Man it`s Hot Hot Hot today:giggle:
Oh and good morning to everyone..

In so much as humans have to purchase their ships and NPC's are issued their's. I'd concur like most employer's whom provides any and all equipment to do the job, fancy paint schemes are not in the budget. Though they may look cool, it is the belief of most companies that Chrome and or fancy paint schemes, don't pay the bills!

Updated with additional reason:
There are system in which the distance from the star to the destination is on occasion several million Light Seconds, which equates to a few LY's, one way. One can only imaging what the speed that an NPC can reach when go from or near ones destination to the star that they just left, wait until you get a few Ls from the destination and when slowing down to the '7's", interdict you; Which works out to be twice the distance you went. Though it may have taken you over an hour or more to get there, they can travel from and too in seconds. That kind of speed shreds paint.

While I appreciate Frontier's olive branch to the community, allowing you to design their station ads, I actually wish Frontier used the station ads to promote things in the game we can actually buy, both with in-game credits (ships, SRVs, etc) and Frontier points (paint jobs and ship kits).

Oh and FWIW, NPCs used to fly with cool paint jobs in the past. At least ships like the Cobra. I'm not sure when this changed...
