Why don't outposts have large pads? Seriously

So, before you accept the mission you open your little book of system maps and LOOK. Not difficult is it? The guy giving the mission doesn't know how big your ship is He assumes YOU do though.

You didn't read the full post did ya?

I said just because I'm in a large ship I don't want to always have to look at every single system if it's an outpost or not. That's not "realistic" of the game, that's just extra work for a ship that shouldn't be a large ship in the first place. Large ship should start at Orca or Python, the actual BIG SHIPS.

I am flying a Type-7 (which SHOULDN'T be a large pad ship anyway! It's the same size or smaller than a python which apparently uses a medium pad). I just took a mission for 60,000 and gives me federation rep, plus extra cargo for a big haul. Turns out it's turned in at an outpost that doesn't even have a pad to suit my suit hunky crap ship. So now I have to find a black market to earnback a portion of the FINE I'm about to get because I can't complete the mission.

My question is why don't ALL outposts have even just 1 large pad? Trading in the type-7 is a pain because of it!

I also don't want someone saying "well just trade around it. Don't go to outposts." but that's the DUMBEST rebuttle. I shouldn't have to do a ton extra for every trade route just because I'm in a large ship. (Going into galaxy, systems, looking at the station to seeing if it's an outpost. If it is, find a new route that isn't). I find missions rarely enough. When I get a mission that says "Go here. It's X light years away. You have enough Cargo space. You have enough jump range. You can do this mission"

Nowhere in the mission will it say "Oh and it's an outpost so you can't be in a large ship."

Sorry for the rant, but I'm kinda tired of stuff like this. If Frontier won't change outposts to accomodate large ships at least make it WAY clearer if it's a station or an outpost.

Relax old fella. Go explore and find out posts that do. That's a huge point of the game... going and finding stuff out.

If all had a large pad then they might as well be stations and would be better than a station because they are easier to dock at, plus if you want to sell illegal goods it would be way too easy to haul 100s of tonnnes off to an outpost rather than a station with decent security flying around out side and station scans too.

You got burned and learned the hard way. It happens. Take the learning and build on it. Plan your missions by looking at the galaxy map and system maps next time.

In most cases the lack of upfront information can be sorted very easily by using your head and the in game tools, in this case the game maps and ship yard.

By the way a Lakon 7 is bigger than a python. The python is approx 80 per cent of the mass of a Type 7. This information is also readily available in the game.

I bet you were cheesed off. I hope you have fun putting your new knowledge to good use.

I believe FD have stated that they will make missions take your ships size and destination into account as to whether the mission will display as available.

Until then, double check before accepting missions.

Outposts have no large pads because FD want to create a varied environment where the largest ships cannot be used everywhere that a smaller ship can.

Check your destination before you take missions (regardless of what ship you are in too).

Coz... then they'd just be small stations with parking problems?

In fairness, a keyboard shortcut or a link in the mission page to the system menu of the destination might ease the problem a bit. You still couldn't park your T7 there, but at least you'd know it then before you accepted the mission.
