Why Erimus and I support SEPP for the Dangerous Games (and why DWE and explorers should, even if they hate PP)

Hi guys,

Don't click away! We know that Power Play is not for 99% of explorers and every fibre in your being is asking you to close this page but please hear me out.

Right now, in case you haven't heard, there is a game coming up where a player group gets to become a POWER. Who cares though, right?

Well listen to this: one of the groups selected to be the power is SEPP, lead by our beloved Kancro Vantas. You should have heard the joy in his voice when he called me on Discord and told me :)

SEPP is a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT exploration based group. They were literally Distant Worlds' sibling on the expedition. Kancro himself did so much and made DWE happen as much as any of us. So for that at least, we support him.

But also for more. Think about this. What is the ONE thing that powers are useful for, for us lone wolves? The perks they give. Right now, apart from that ridiculous Li Yong Rui grind for triple scan data value, there isn't anything for us at all. There is no explorer power!

But we can have one! Now's our opportunity. Whoever wins the Dangerous Games gets to actually pick the rank reward perks themselves! And as Kancro has made very clear here, SEPP will be choosing Exploration focussed perks!

We have actually been given a chance to CHANGE exploration! Would it be better FSDs? Some specialised defenses? Light-weight components? Better scanners? The possibilities are endless!

Let's make this happen guys. I've seen you explorers. When you come together you can do ANYTHING. You did so many things that even the biggest and most experienced, hardcore player groups didn't even come close to, and you barely lifted a finger by doing it.

If we can reach all explorers, even the ones who have made an oath to never get involved in Power Play, then we can easily win this. We can get our power in. We can show the pew pewers, Frontier, the entire community that explorers are just as hardcore, just as important, just as involved and just as deserving as all the rest of the people who constantly whine and moan about this game.

Please let explorers who don't read the forums know. Please commit to changing your routine for just a few weeks in June this year and help SEPP win the CG games that the competition is composed of - and do your best - to make a massive different for us all. Don't let this opportunity go to waste. It may never happen again.

Let's do this guys. I'm really excited, and hopeful. I know explorers easily wipe the floor of everyone else. Even the big groups who we are competing against.

I understand if you support others too, for general reasons, or if you really don't want to get involved. But for everyone else, know that Erimus and I are completely supporting SEPP, and encourage all Distant Worlds Pilots, and explorers everywhere to.

p.s. SEPP will be for all explorers, and will be the least political group you can imagine - their philosophy IS the explorer philosophy in all. If politics are holding you back, then please realise, this isn't political :)

As im returning home from Distant Worlds, i have been doing a lot of thinking what to do next in Elite. One thing keeps popping in my head constantly - learning the secrets of Power Play.
But, the main problem for me has been that none of those current powers interests me, but now it seems thats going to change. Great job if we get SEPP for power and in that case, i will definitely join SEPP. :)

Might even join even if SEPP doesnt make power.. ;)

SEPP will be pushing for a passive exploration bonus. This means that you won't have to pledge to SEPP or power play at all to benefit. Just like the other passive benefits (ALD 20% bounty bonus, LYR 15% ship/module discount, Archon 10% smuggling bonus). They will apply to everyone who docks :)

So after we win the dangerous games, you can stay in the black as long as you'd like and SEPP will be ready with extra CRs to reward your efforts.

I saw your video on You Tube yesterday and joined up.
I have a few questions though that I haven't been able to figure out on my own.

How does the competition work, and what is it that's happening in June?

Right now I'm around 5000ly away from the bubble on my way out.
What can I do to help when I'm out in the black?
Should I turn around now? Or plan to be back at a specified time?

There are a few CGs happening in June, so we will need you in the bubble then. Not sure what they are going to be but each contestant will have their own station and whoever does best in each CG wins that round.

I'm in! I toyed with PP a little and found in kinda fun, but never really agreed with any of the current powers' ideologies. SEPP sounds much more inline, and I'm down for any active or passive exploration bonus I can get. SEPP as a power might give FD a little more incentive to do more with exploration too.
