I think the OP deserves a medal for public service:

1) He is providing a juicy target for bounty hunters
2) He is showing sidewinders that loss is part of Open at a time when the don't have large insurance costs
3) He is providing enjoyable drama on the forum and in game.
4) He has provoked the wrath of the solo players - they might even leave solo to kill him lol
5) His sense of logic is disturbing but eerily enticing
6) He is very polite and I enjoy each of his responses

Not really. Maybe the players could be put on priority to be matched with friends / similarly ranked players to help prevent harmless sidewinders from getting in the way of my lasers. It's not so bad but not sure how to get 1,000's of players on the same instance without Frontier hosting everything server, which is too late at this point. Not really complaining just saying.

If you've just discovered the way to get FDEV to fix instancing, I'd be so happy. That is by far the biggest problem, far greater than the PsychoCMDR v Noob trick. Maybe these issues can be fixed all at once, probably should just keep dreaming though.

I would add that (although I wouldn't want to meet him on a dark night in a sidewinder) and (although I haven't tried this myself because I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, keeping my nose clean with the authorities, at least to date) the OP's behaviour is the only way to test security services mechanics in the game.

I hope the GalCops nail you SOON, Commander!! :D

+ repped

ps. not soonTM but soonFOR REAL
in other words .. I "get" this thread.

Ah well we have here is someone having a lot of fun and that is the OP.

School bullies have a similar way of being, but at the end of the day it is just a game and there is solo and group play, so this thread means not so much.

3) Enjoyable drama on the forum! I love it.
4) I highly doubt any Solo player is capable of defending themselves against a seasoned Open player.

Instead of being nasty the OP could always have just gone on a crusade to protect weak newbie players. But I guess that is too much work. Most likely outcome of his endeavor is to drive new players away by making an already difficult for newbie game an exercise in futility and either driving them into other modes or leaving the game altogether and telling all their buddies the game is rubbish.

I actually support his actions for the reasons he has listed.

Another thing that needs a look at is consequences to actions.

-Why is not unlawful interdiction an act of piracy?

-Why is it not piracy to pick up goods in view of a ship that is forced to dump cargo (ie, stopped by pirate)

Where is the danger and thrill of being a pirate and criminal if the act is not a crime.

I get a 135 credit bounty for interdicting someone. It's not very effective.

Can't you see the obvious point though? Lets say this one guy can rip up the Multiplayer side of the game, on his own, and as you say, driving people away form the game and killing it's future...........what is to stop FDs competitors setting up a few players to smash the game in to the ground? Why not? if the game is soooo broken that it can be basically, sabotaged.......then it needs FIXING!.......

That particular job offering was already taken by Adle's Armada in the area in question.

Or other players can get off their asses and start policing sectors instead of the the giggleworthy AI.

Why should FD have to do something players cause when players can fix it?

If my understanding of his intentions are correct, he is mainly anticipating player created consequences, which there absolutely will be, and we will all (both sides) enjoy it thoroughly. The problem with this however, is we will probably be sitting within a few ly of each other in SC, but won't be able to see each other.

Players will get off their asses, and have doneso in the past. I'm no Imp, but I recall them setting up some kind of protected trading route?

I think that should grade .. in core systems (and start systems) the GalCops should be an unstoppable and numerous force .. in outlying areas they would be thinner on the ground, and there yes, it would be cool to see player group security forces, bringing justice to the lawless.

It takes a pretty brave commander to test this really.

(though I've no idea if he's pretty, arf)

IIRC the silk road thing? Haven't been much of a presence in ED since the LP 98-312 campaign that was put on hold indefinitely due to the few key players needing better equipped ships to deal with the swarms.

I hope so. I'd do it myself, but fighting a Python in a Diamondback Scout is a death sentence.
