Why is a Damaged Escape Pod worth more than twice an undamaged one?

Escape pods bring in about 3,000 credits, and (if I remember from the last one I found) damaged escape pods are worth more than 6,000 !

So why the difference? Is this intended? It doesn't make sense to me.

Or ...... is it because the occupant can no longer tell the world what really happened ????

You can sell the human remains as a delicacy.

There are cannibals out there... Seriously, in one of the books... o_O

Yep. If I had to guess the reason for the difference, well it’s probably the same reason why all of the S&R stuff pays so terribly: Frontier didn’t bother to look it over in depth. It’s probably just a mistake due to a lack of interest by the devs.

Should it be changed? Absolutely, along with all of the S&R item sell prices, and along with ice mining profitability too. Will it be changed? Doubtful, as ice mining has been terribly valued for well over a year now. I expect S&R sell values to go unlooked at too, unfortunately.

If we are lucky it might get noticed and adjusted by the devs during the Beyond core improvements in 2018. That would be fantastic.

Maybe a dead crewman/pilot/owner opens the doors for salvage rights?

Maybe we are dealing with 33rd century resurrectionists.

For the same reason First Aiders tend to the quiet patients before the loud ones that have broken their fingernails. They are in more danger.

I haven't finished the book, so this is still just a theory I have based on not yet finishing it... But you might be closer to the truth than you think.

Cannibals pay more if their meal cant fight back.

I'm inclined to think you are right. Sad, isn't it?
