Why is it easier to land in some space stations than others?

I have noticed that in certain space stations I have absolutely no problems landing, but then in others I cant even land - it's like there is this major crosswind that I'm having to fight against. The "wind" keeps blowing me off course and I end up slamming into the walls/ceiling/floor of the space station. It's getting really frustrating making me want to just quit!

Is anyone else having these issues?

Check to make sure your auto rotation is on. I had the same problem and it was because I turned it off by accident.

Never had that problem. Even in Alpha but I agree with trancepilot.

I've had issues where, for unknown reasons, the option for matching the ships rotation to the station turns itself off. I haven't had it happen in a while, but it is a bit disconcerting having to rapidly switch through the panels to find it and turn it back on while trying to avoid the crushy walls of death.

I got into the habit of checking it between asking for docking permission and going through the letterbox

I put Rotational Correction to ON and that did it. That is hard to do while inside the station - having to bring that panel up, then tab over, tab down, then select on - all the while not hitting anything.

The center bit of the station is your friend. Lots of room. Believe me when i get into a bind a bit of altitude helps!
