Why is it impossible to log onto the game this evening?

Yet again the server status shows as 'ok' but there's an 'orange sidewinder' error message at the end of a long wait. Plenty of people are moaning on Steam about this, but it doesn't seem to be getting a mention here. Have you all given up expecting the game to work?

Still get Orange Sidewinder

Title says it all, still getting Orange Sidewinder while trying to login, both Odyssey and Horizons. So far, haven't been able to get in at all since it crashed 2 hours ago, even after Hotfix 2! Anyone else?

My orange sidewinder is different from that one ;-)

But seriously, I've only been getting it for the last 2 hours, so it's not a case of 'still' getting it for me...

I am getting this since yesterday afternoon. It's evening here now.
I guess I won't get to spend my weekend in space...

My hotfix update failed twice with a crash in the launcher - so I reinstalled the game clean - then I just got the Orange sidewider - but only in Odyssey, when I loaded Horizons ( and fixed all the keybinding that got screwed again from coping back my backup ) then I was able to dock at a station - after that I was then able to load into Odyssey.
Unforutunately I had no time to play.
Now I have time to play - and there is a new update - oh crap - here we go again, the launch just hung for 10mins or so saying 'preparing update' - so killed it and now I'm updating via Steam. I have no confidence in Fdev any more to actually provide a game that's even slightly playable.

weird, my steam EDO had no issues with the launcher or the hotfixes

I have yet to try the Epic EDO... i might hold it for a while...
