Why is it so hard to find ships and modules?!

Maybe I'm missing some feature that makes this easier but I have been looking to buy an asp and a vulture....but can't find them at any local tech stations. I also wanted to buy some combat modules for my anaconda....can't find them.

What is going on here? Is this some glitch? Every station has the exact same ship selection (sidewinder, hauler, type 6, type 7, python, federal dropship) and mostly the same available modules. Just about none are class 8 and there are no exploration modules at any of the hundreds of stations that I visited over a period of hours.

Yes I tried checking all ship slots. Yes I checked multiple stations in each system!

Why can't we get a market search window like there is in EVE?!

I have this problem occasionally when it comes to modules higher the class 5 even in high tech systems. Check high tech systems only when looking for high class modules and ships. They won't always have everything but most.

Go to galaxy map, filter by economy types, deselect everything except for high-tech (light-blue) systems.

Find a high-tech system with a large population and wealthy station. large and wealthy stations with high-tech economies are almost guaranteed to have every part you need. You might need to check 2 different high-tech systems to find all your parts if you are outfitting something like an python/FDL/Clipper etc.

LTT 15574 has the ASP and most any module you could want to outfit it.

I don't think they have the Vulture... but I could be wrong.

As always...eddb.io. It's not 100% reliable though since module availability is subject to change. But I only remember it being wrong once.

These 3 systems between them have everything I think: Diaguandri, Lembava, BD+28 413

They're all close to each other too.

I've just spent 2 nights trying to find the SRV hanger module. Finally had to ask for help here and got it.

Not all spaceports carry the same stock. I actually like that because it's realistic.

Not every space port would realistically have the same hardware in stock.

Agreed but there should be a search tool or something.
I remember the first time I bought the FdL. I spent way too much time searching for it (tried several high tech systems). It was not fun and it's not necessary in any kind of way.
It was just boring and frustrating as hell.

Go to Jadlillke for discounted modules. Its a high tech system and most things you would want for your Conda are available there with a 15% discount. Or just look for any high tech system that is controlled or exploited by Li Yong-Rui
If you have the Permit for Alioth, you can get the ASP there at a 20% discount.

Been looking all night for an Imperial Courier in one high-tech Imperial system after another and no joy. I do wish there was some actual logic to things in Elite sometimes rather than just RNG.

Yes, in an age where we can cross star systems there should be online stock checking.

There was a note in the patch notes a while ago about Stations getting extra 'tech points' or some-such so they could always afford at least a sidewinder. Apparently stations have some sort of currency or rating as part of the background sim that allows them to 'buy' ship hulls and upgrades. This lines up with the 'high tech' stations having all the cool stuff. Maybe things have changed since then, but it makes sense.

For my part I'd like to be able to see the ships available when you 'purchase trade data'. Hunting down some of the rarer ships like the Fer de Lance can be a real pain in the backside.
