Horizons Why is my jump range so low? 3.70LY in a Cobra Mk III!

I really can't figure it out! I didn't play E:D for a few weeks, and upon coming back I found that my ship had a really weird loadout that I was certain I didn't leave it with. I play one session yesterday and make a few jumps, not really paying attention to the outfitting screen. Now today I can't even make a single jump out of Freng. Eventually I discovered that I have a max range of 3.70LY, and no matter what I try to change in the loadout of the ship, it won't change it significantly. I think I was getting around 10LY previously, so I can't figure out what is going on!

Any help would be great, as my missions are about to expire and I'm stuck on Freng. I've tried exiting and loading back in, but I get the same numbers. Either I'm an idiot, or there's some kind of internal issue with my ship/account.

Cheers

Peddy

PS - Don't mind if you call me an idiot, so long as I get this sorted!

You only have a class 3 FSD, you need to fit a class 4 one.

Notice is says C3/4, that means you have a 3 fitted and the max for that slot is a 4. Fit a class 4 and you'll be sorted.

You have a class 3 FSD installed when you should have a class 4. :p

Just buy a 4E FSD - you can only have one FSD so you'll be selling the 3C at the same time - you don't lose anything on buying and selling modules anyway so you'll be OK.

Your FSD is a C3
Buy a A4 if you can afford it, or any class 4 if that's too much

900 odd credits they couldn't even get a 4D so they'll have to get a 4E but they will end up with enough credits to cover insurance.

Thanks.

You were all quick to jump on the FSD, but....the only Class 4 FSD available is 1.5mil - how the hell am I gonna smuggle that on board?

Also - no one has managed to explain how I GOT TO Freng, but can't seem to jump AWAY from it. I shouldn't need an FSD that's 5x more expensive than the ship just to be able to get somewhere.

Something fishy is going on. Were specs of ships and/or FSDs changed when 1.5 and 2.0 were launched? (Stupid question as it would most certainly be no I presume?)

OK So what I'm deducing is that the starport I am in doesn't stock a class 4 FSD that I can purchase. I did recently get blown up, but that was BEFORE I jumped to Freng (in my previous session). Now, I can't jump ANYWHERE. It makes no logical sense that I have an FSD that can make the jump TO Freng, but now I can't get out of Freng......What the?

I've gotta sell my first 4 children and mortgage the dog just to get a sniff at an FSD that will get me out of Freng. Something has DEFNINTELY changed in the loadout since I last played. This is nuts. There aren't any other stations in Freng where I can buy an FSD, so I'm stuck with the useless stock in front of me. What if I can't get anything with enough juice to jump me to the next system? :/

You must have accidentally bought that FSD after you got there, and/or bought the reinforced alloys.
Sell the reinforced alloys, upgrade your FSD. If that doesn't work, sell even more modules until you can jump out. (hint: D's are the lightest)
If that doesn't work, sell the ship. :(

OK this is ridiculous. The nearest system is CUPIS, and that's 6.1LY away. That means I need the bloody A4 for a cool 1.6mil credits just to get out of this godforsaken place. Am I going to have to sell the ship I am perfectly happy with, lose 10% & buy a piece of junk just to get off this island?

Something has gone seriously wrong with my account.....surely.

Hi Mysturji,

I know I didn't accidentally make any purchases. I landed at Bear City with a SAFE HANDS mission active, logged off, logged in the next day, was alerted that I had failed the mission, cleared it - and then this happens.

I can't sell the reinforced alloys as there's no alternative module at the station - and as mentioned above I would NEED the 1.6mil FSD to get anywhere - and I don't have that much in assets.

IF I had sold my FSD, there would be an option to rebuy it when I clicked on the FSD module purchase tab - that doesn't appear for me.

You should just be able to sell your reinforced alloys, then you'll be left with the bog-standard hull and save several tons of dead weight.
PS. The rebuy option disappears after about 15 minutes.

Lol Next time use this first! ;)

Ah, consequences, consequences...

That's got nothing to do with it. SOMEONE explain to me how I got onto this system if the FSD I am fitted with cannot get me off this system? There's NO chance that I have sold it for another FSD as I would have the option to BUY BACK the original FSD.

I have done many many many jumps with this ship - and I swear my range was around 10LY. Now I can guarantee you that I didn't drop 1.5mil credits on THAT FSD, so there is definitely something fishy going on here.

File a bug report. If your FSD did disappear up its own wossname, FD might give it back.

Thanks for that info Mysturji. As I posted originally, I didn't play for a few weeks, and came back to a completely foreign loadout. I didn't buy the reinforced alloys, and I definitely have never used Hull Reinforcement Packages - I had to look up what they actually did for the ship!

What are the possibilities of the following:

1. There's some kind of weird bug that may be linked to my account that is messing with my loadout?
2. Someone has hacked my account and are changing stuff up for giggles?

1. Stuff happens. Report it and they'll investigate.
2. Kids/significant others with a gripe about ED? Cut their allowance and change your password! :)

There is this thread that appears to be describing a similar kind of problem, also with a Cobra
