Why is the signature file size a measly 250kB? I had to compress the out of my image just to get it on here. If you don't want to fill up the server with peoples high quality images, then why not just turn on the image linking code so we can bring images from other websites such as imgur.com? It's kinda annoying to have such a small size, this isn't the early 2000s anymore...

Not forum in posts, in your SIGNATURE photo. The photo code is disabled when making your signature and instead you gotta use a custom code instead, and that limits the filesize to 250kB. The insert photo button is completely disabled there. Go look in your CP
