Why is there a 5 thousand limit on kickstarter?

I assume thats purely a FD descision. Whether it was the most they felt they could ask for what they considered the ceiling of what they wanted to offer.

Maybe because its against the spirit of crowd funding - don't forget most projects are much smaller than this one and would never get anywhere near needing more than 5k from one person.

Also, how ed would you be if troll-pledges of 200k were made and then withdrawn 24 hours before the end? That would totally happen, and while 5k can be made up, something huge could break a project.

That's a very good point. It would be heartbreaking if the project wasn't funded because of one silly troll pledge

A very good point. That would be soul destroying.

I'll be glad when the KS finishes and the real fun begins. :D

People can't pull a pledge within 24 hours though, can they? A typical troll would pull the pledge at the last possible minute, and then find they've been trolled themselves when they can't. Trolled and out of pocket...

There could be special rules for high pledges like that. Like disallow to withdraw the pledge (of course after you've confirmed that pledge with a thousand "yes, I understood" buttons).

Per account?! Once you pledged 5.000, you cannot pledge again for that project?

Correct.

You can alter the amount and / or change tiers, but through that account you can't increase it over £5K. To pledge more than this you need to open a 2nd account (possibly with the same payment method) and pledge again - it's what I had to do as I tried pledging more than £5K and it wouldn't let me.

Partially correct (from what I have heard on the KS comments)

You can change / remove your pledge any time you want, however, if a KS campaign has made it's goal and you attempt to make that change within the last 24 hours and in doing so that causes the KS campaign to dip below the goal then you can't. (Hope that makes sense)

That's good to hear. Hopefully it will stop any last min removals.
