Why isn't there an option to set SRV throttle to 0%?

I know I can use handbrake to stop the SRV.. But that's not really what I want, because after that I still have to throttle back so I don't instantly start moving at full speed..

I would really like similar options to control as my Ships have.. It feels really weird to not being able to kill the engines when needed.

Agreed and supported.

That's where you see how M&K controls in ED are an afterthought... That, and the inability to make the srv yaw properly in flight.

+support

I have 0% throttle bound for my ship and it always annoys me when it doesn't work on my SRV... meaning it didn't stop when I wanted it to and has now crashed! [cry]

I believe its called a handbrake.

"I know I can use handbrake to stop the SRV.. But that's not really what I want.."

Handbrake just stops the vehicle, but when you release it.. It continues with the full speed again..

I'd prefer a key that I know sets the speed to 0% so I can then either throttle back to go instantly to reverse, or throttle up to move the slowest possible speed.

It's just something that I use a lot while controlling the ship, so I find it odd that SRV's don't have the same keybinding available. And if I were to use handbrake for it, I would still have to throttle back to reach 0%, so it kinda defeats the purpose.

Turn driving assist off..?

If I let go of my throttle (gamepad trigger), my SRVs throttle is set to 0, and will just roll to a halt. Unless going down hill. Lol

It does mean you have to hold it down to maintain 100% throttle.

I would also like to see a stabilization fix to the SRV cockpit interface panels, so we don't get constant "jitter" whenever the SRV is moving slightly.
They're nearly unreadable when this happens.

I dunno. I just got in the habit of hitting assist twice, as it zeroes the throttle and stops.

At first, I just did throttle driving, but recently, I bound a mouse button to forward and backward. Works pretty well, I've never lost a SRV, and it generally goes where I want. Barring a few occasional spinouts.

+1

I would like to have this, would make using drive assist on mouse and keyboard more useful.

And while we are talking about the SRV, why is there no option to toggle between different drive modes? The SRV always uses two axis for steering which makes it spin out of control at higher speeds very easily on mouse and keyboard. It would be nice to be able to disable the rear axis steering to get more stability and only enable it if one wants to make a tight turn.

I had no idea that was the case. Seems weird indeed to have it for ships, but not the buggy...

I was able to set 0% on my old Thrustmaster HOTAS. On my new one, I center the throttle in my dead zone and the SRV sits still. That's exactly how my ship throttles work too. Not sure what else the OP wants?

If he's talking about a 0% throttle button, I think there is one you can define, but I'm not in front of my game rig at the moment.

I solved that problem by binding SRV steering and throttle to my joystick. I let go of the joystick / move it to neutral position, SRV stops. When using keyboard / mouse it was like driving MAKO, now it's a pleasure to drive on planets.
