Why no conflict zones around stations?

I've played since beta, and mostly I've just been playing the way I used to in the original Elite. But recently I started taking more of an interest in what the different factions are doing in the systems I'm visiting, and trying to boost my reputation with some of them.

This has led me to a system where one faction I'm trying to gain rep with is engaged in hostilities with another faction. There's conflict zones in the system, and the station I was docking at was owned by one of the two warring factions. Wouldn't it be logical that the stations would also become targets for the hostilities, making docking there with supplies for either of the factions a risk? Also wouldn't other stations in the system, that aren't controlled by one of the combatants, be on higher alert?

It would certainly add a new element of danger to systems in conflict.

Nobody?

I just thought it'd be more realistic and add more danger to certain systems if the conflict was more widely spread. Here on Earth, if there's a war, everything becomes a viable target, but what happens in game is they have a nice little civilized scrap somewhere in the system but leave the stations of the people they're fighting against alone. That's a bit like starting a war and deciding not to bomb the airfields.

Well...this happened at one time and I captured it:

:D

So it's certainly possible even if that was a bug more or less.

It would make "blockades" a lot more viable. Blockades in general is a thing that Michael have mentioned as something they want to make more interesting and this would certainly be the most logical way of doing it.

It would be interesting and I look forward to the future implementation but at the moment the station guns would pretty much instakill all enemy ships. Also you'd get the people that used to use capital ships as farming resources use the station for that.

Could be made to work though and i think its a good idea :)
