Why no escort missions?

If u remember old Freespace series. there was SP escort missions in the game which were intense. I am not pro of this game but NPC convoy or what ever escort missions do not exist. Why? Or I can’t see them?

it would me nice to escort a VIP, MEDICAL transportation convoy, supply line protection. traveling from A to B then B to C in the mission time, and fighting against waves of pirates. even option of giving the good or VIP to them for less reward or fight for more reward? no? sound good to me. why not?

It sounds like a good idea.

It could be also an idea for Powerplay. Go to the navigation beacon, and escort tge bureucrats of your sistem to their destination.

You need a good AI for this, or they become horribly annoying. Luckily I think MoM is easily up to the task.
