Why no Multicrew in Solo?

NPC multi crew should have come a long time ago.
Almost as long ago as NPC crew sitting in the empty seats of our ships. [yesnod]

Aaaand the crux of the matter. While somehow pip management has been made the scapegoat for "reason this doesn't work", this is the actual point of issue.

Solo mode quite stringently doesn't instance you with other CMDRs. Because it's solo mode (and jokes above about lawyers being mocked for relying on semantics are almost side-splittingly stupid...does anyone actually know what the law system is? Because last I checked, it has 110% reliance on semantics).

The issue is simply that there's no NPC equivalent of the content you're after, not that you need CMDRs in a non-CMDR mode.

*sigh*

Solo is known as a strategic retreat mode to multiplay in peace.

Oh man, I actually laughed at this. Proper, unstoppable laughter. Thankyou.

Actually, Power-Play Players go purposedly into solo, at least on occasions, to be able to help their faction at reduced risk. Solo is known as a strategic retreat mode to multiplay in peace. I don't have to accept Solo being Solo or anything else, it is what it is, and it's called how it's called. Just because a bait is called a bait won't make the fish bite it.

However, I only pointed this out because of how stuck on the Name of the mode some are here. Again (and again and again...), true hermit solo Players who want to be really really alone can just ignore the multicrew Feature. Refusing the Feature because some People don't want to use it when noone actually Forces them is inconcevable in my mind, I just cannot understand this. All this because of some semantic OCD.

It's nothing to do with OCD. This comment earlier summed it up better than my responses so far:

To get a better analogy (I think), I can use your mashed potatoes still and say we are going on a hiking trip and are going to have a steak dinner, so we get in our car and drive to the park where we eat mashed potatoes. Now if you see any issues with that, you're just playing a semantics game.

At the point that a name infers something about the item being named, then the name is important. It's nothing to do with OCD. It's to do with your failure to grasp the most basic fact - that single player mode (in E: D this is called Solo) is by definition not multi-player.

This also isn't really semantics. I understand what you want. I have no problem with it, except that you want to put multiplayer into single player. That's the bit that doesn't work. The failure of understanding is on your part, and at the most basic level.

OK I wanted to drop this thread some pages ago but went on and now I get my punishment in form of such replies... well, should be a lesson.

Whatever, the debate took place, I leave it here for FD now. For the rest, I'm out.
