Why no slider to reduce jump range in Galmap?

The fuel efficiency of jumps goes up hugely with just a small adjustment to max jump range, like from 60LYs(Max) to 55LYs.
Why are we not allowed to do so when setting a new route in the Galmap?

The current "Cargo Mass" slider requires cargo racks.
For example my Phantom setup loses ~0.14LYs per tonne of cargo, so to set a max range of 55LYs per jump(from a max of 60LYs) when needing to plot a route I would need 35t of cargo racks, which I haven't got.
Or am I missing a trick here ?

Uhuh.

It's one of those things that seems needlessly contrived; fitting cargo racks just so you can twiddle your maximum jump-range.
Dunno if it's just something that FDev never considered worthwhile or that they deliberately decided to make complicated.

With this new newbie-friendly era, maybe this is the time for some new, sensible, straightforward, navigational tools?

Course, ideally what I'd like to see is you being able to open up the left-HUD, select the "modules" tab, scroll down to the FSD (or any other module), select "Properties" and then get a variety of things which you could twiddle to adjust and re-tune your FSD (or any other module).
Every jump you made would degrade the efficiency very slightly and incur a tiny amount of damage, which'd require adjustments and repair during long voyages.

One of the things you'd be able to do, from the cockpit HUD, would be to adjust the "FSD field strength" either downward (making for smaller jumps but causing less damage) or upward (to a maximum of, say, 120% which'd allow for bigger jumps but causing severe damage as a result).

I've always wanted to fiddle with my modules more.

Manually reducing or overloading power output, reload weapons (plus individually toggle weapon colours), raise and lower shields (without recharge times), tune FSD performance (Hyperspace and supercruise), etc.
All in a very balanced way of course.

Baby steps guys :D
Slider to reduce max jump range with no cargo rack restrictions first...then other stuff !

I'd be happy with just a reload button. Its the most basic combat game feature imaginable yet we still don't have one.
