Follow my thoughts.
Why don't you, fdev implement ship transfer the following way:
You have a minimum/maximum waiting time AND a minimum/maximum price. So if you want to keep your creds you gotta wait the max time for the distance you are (let's say 5 min for neighbor systems, 100 min to cross the bubble as Sandro said). Buy you got the money. So you can increase your offer to lower the time. Then when you pay the max price available for the distance you are transferring, you get your ship instant. This way you get both peoples satisfied. Want it instant? Pay the price. Want it "realistic" or just haven't the blingbling? Wait. You want to have it faster, but not instant? Roleplay you dropping some extra bitcoins in the account of the freighter's pilot to have some VIP treatment. Or just to hell with role play, just pay more because game mechanics and balancing time/cash.
I don't believe this is so hard to do. Seriously. And no one thought of it there? If the ship transfer is due to be delayed, at least don't be lazy and throw at us something so unfinished as fixed pay for fixed distance/time.
I'm sorry if I'm being rude, I really am (sorry), but wth is going on? It seems fdev are lazy to work at better mechanics and throw at us those weird inexplicable things like the engineers. They are the most talented mechanics in the human space, but they give you "unpredictable" modification results. AND ANY ONE CAN HAVE IT. You don't need to deserve it, you just need to grind some arbitrary goodies for them. This is a mechanic I don't understand why its implemented.
Wouldn't be better and more rewarding if we, to have the mod we want, do some missions for the engineers (or doing missions grant you a randon mod [not a mod with randon values], so you be more compelled to do missions for them) Truly gaining their trust by our actions. Some may be even enemies, turning unable to be grade5 trust with both at the same time. But no. You just need to get some materials and give it to them and they modify your module for FREE! And they don't even know what they are doing because the effects are randon in some extent.
Sorry, frontier, but this is lazy work.
I know the rng for the engineer is to create mathematical near infinite possibilities for unique module values, making you feel like your tunned module is your own. But this is the wrong way to do it. It is lazy. To really give the feeling of personalization, why we cant fine tune the mods? Telling were to go for a better value, having drawbacks proportional of the increases?
That cant be so difficult to build up. A slider based system. I cant believe you guys don't even thought about it.
The way the updates are coming feels like you FDev wants to do it quickly. But why not do it slow and well done? And for once. When the update hit the live build its already the way it is meant to be. No need to change the recipes, no need to call for a vote after the feature is announced. No back steps because people are mad at these poorly created mechanics.
Elite dangerous new features are starting to feel like lazy work.
An other example is the beluga. MY GOD THE BELUGA. just a major reshape of the orca. Let's be honest about it. Differently of the DBS/DBX or the FDS/FAS/FGS, which is meant to be the same base frame modified for different scenario, Beluga is just a stretched up orca with some abnormally wide fins just to say "it nearly don't pass the airlock". Its even has nothing to do with THE CONCEPT ART!!
And then you say that its one of the lasts new ships we'll ever have. Oh please, this is a joke?
I love this game so far. And not just me, of course. It have potential to be more than just RNG and weird mechanics. Star citizen is nothing compared with what elite can be (first off because elite is already a finished base game, not just a megalomaniac ever delayed promise). While SC tries and bite more it can chew, elite just need more... Motivation. As Shia LaBeouf once said: JUST DO IT!!! DONT LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS!
Sorry again if I was rude, but I love this game, and it can be so much more well thought. I just don't believe it'll be just another space sim. But the way things seems to go... It feels like lazy work. I know I'm no one. I don't know how to program. I've never designed a game. But you guys sure can do better.
What do you think/feel about the way things are being implemented? I want to know te general feeling of the community in this matter.
