Horizons Why not have a Storage Locker?

So wondering ,, would it be in the near future or update to have storage at a base? some place to store our stuff that we don't want to carry all over the place, to be honest it kind of stinks to have all your cargo attached to your avatar, I would like to have a "home base" that I could come to and store stuff,, make it so you have have to pay for the cargo/storage, the more storage the higher the price.

If this won't work (don't know why) then how about having a choice to either take your cargo to your other ships or leave it. Example,,, I may want to keep a bunch of limpits on my mining ship, but wanting to upgrade my python I would want to leave all the required mats on her,, and when you change ships it would ask what you want to transfer.. yes? no? why not??

Module storage is coming.

General commodity storage is not (from what Sandro has said) - although we should be able to deposit Engineer related commodities at Engineers' bases to be used at a later date.

And that's really all we need, commodity storage for crafting.
I totally understand why not for general commodities, because then mass manipulation suddenly becomes a thing, or say, someone storing a ton of x items, so that they can always be #1 in CG's and such....while I'm sure some would enjoy that, I do not think that is the intention of the game.

That seems to be the thinking behind Frontier's stance on the topic.

That is what many wants to know, maybe an dev should enlighten us and give an logical explanation? At least to say if they start to think about it...

Official answer is: "In general, no".

Can you please point where this official answer is? I wonder what is the explanation. Thanks :p

Module storage is great, but can you tell us when we will be able to deposit stuff on Engineers bases? I would love to know that :) Thank you

So now I have the issue that really brings the point of these module storage is a must. I can't fly any of my fighter ships since none of them have storage which also means I can jump into them to fly them to the engineers unless I sell everything I have been working hard to collect and start over.

Hope this comes soon !!!!!

Which ships are you referring to? Even the Vulture (a dedicated fighter, essentially) can carry *enough* cargo to get to an engineer.

Is storing commodities for use in a community goal really a concern?

I can't imagine anybody thinking it would be time well spent, spending time outside a CG trucking X from A-B for no immediate profit, just on the off chance that maybe a CG will start in close proximity of the storage of exactly the desired commodity,

To be honest I don't understand why I can't simply leave cargo in stored ships. For instance I am in a freighter and have 100 tons of cargo but instead of selling I want to just hop into a viper for a bit of canyon racing or something. But no, the station goes: "Can store your ship no problem, but please do not leave stuff in there, ok?"

Frankly doesn't make sense at all to me.

I don't understand why it can't be implemented either. You can "store" mats, and scans, why not a few hundred units/tons of engineer commodities? I don't see how this could "break" the BGS, when I can easily drop 700t of something in any given station/market in a single trip in my cutter.............. never mind the impact that trade CG's have..........
You can store entire ships all around the galaxy, each station with a commodity market can "store" millions of tons of product, I can park my ship with 700t of x at a station but storing a few hundred tons of commodities for a commander can't be done? Sheesh. I'd rather they spend the programming time on this (which solves practical gaming issues) than wasting time on allowing players to walk around their ship for example, which adds nothing to gameplay.

I have a few ships like the FDL and FDS that has zero cargo because they are set for full battle so I cant hop into one of those. I know when you first buy one they have storage but I had these setup a good bit before the update of engineers and just got back to playing about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

So I know you "can" gave cargo but these don't and to change them I have to dump all that I have been trying to collect... make sense now?

And if anybody will start modify and outfit just for engineers, they have to change a lot from the outfit. Like an fuel scoop if that ship is way to far from the engineer. But at first it needs to travel around to find missions that gives the stuff so if thats a combat ship it should look for combat missions. But in this way it isn't actually an combat ship as it is refitted for travelling and carry stuff for engineers :) As I found out some nights ago when trying to have some engineer stuff on my FDL, I've only seen rewards that I need on cargo missions [mad]. Spent some time looking around in stations and refreshing boards (i was in stations where I was allied with the factions) as I got bored to see those only in missions that I didn't had the ship for and not in any of those combat missions. And, imagine traveling with a FDL for a long journey towards the engineer if you are too far way and somehow you got what you need....meeeh I stopped this non-sense and illogical grind as I will wait to see if maybe by awesome Mr. David Braben's love for community magic we will receive personal storage in 2.2....I really hope so :) I will be so happy, I would buy some ship skins and even a bobblehead and a promise that I will buy the next expansion when will come up and I will stop asking for stuff for at least 1 month, I'm that serious on this [yesnod]

So, I'm in my Annie and I'm trying for grade 5 FSD jump range. I just need the chemical manipulators. Advice is to look for them in agricultural anarchies, but I keep getting jumped by hordes of pirates :(
I really want to keep all the stuff I have collected but if I keep it people try to kill me for it.
So I have to sell all of it apart from the stuff I must have for my 3 rolls at an upgrade, knowing full well I am going to have to spend literally hours looking to replace them when I am ready to try for something else to upgrade, like my thrusters.
But no storage, not even a few tons, not even if I buy another ship because wherever I go my stuff goes too.
This is very frustrating, and coupled with the randomness of the upgrades themselves, occasionally very annoying.
The ability to stash stuff cannot come soon enough for me,however it is done.
Like with 2.2 please?

This is pretty much where I'm at as well - ironically with an FDL as well, one of the mods mentioned that we might be able to store engineer materials at their base at a later date - for me, that can't come soon enough. I'd genuinely prefer the ability to store mats than be able to walk around my ship if I had a choice which came sooner.

uss shipwreakage of haulers is where you find chemical manipulators

There are database considerations with mass storage for players (it doesn't take many items for each player to add 100million extra objects for the db to look after).

I think FD may be resisting db bloat and focusing on the most important stuff first.
