Why, when I post to the forum, does it appear instantly? This is extremely immersion-breaking. I'm an Englishman from the mid-to-late 20th century - why should I put up with this new-fangled instant gratification nonsense.
Can someone at least explain the in-game lore behind this? I suggest that it MUST be made more realistic and be more designed by me rather than the devs.
At the very least there should be a delay that reflects:
1. Finding a good quality sheet of paper, with a suitable watermark
2. Locating my favourite fountain pen.
3. writing the note in an elegant style (my avatar simply wouldn't just scawl a missive in crayon)
4. post the letter in the local postbox
5. wait until next day for the letter to be collected (because of "the cuts")
6. wait an additional day for the letter to be delivered (assuming I have paid extra for first class delivery, otherwise please allow 1D4 days)
7. additional delays (at random) to account for local public holidays in each local government through which the letter passes
8. Of course, it takes extra time if sent from somewhere abroad. This additional time should be calculated (for postcards) on the basis of [holiday time remaining] + [2 weeks] + [1D6 roll]
I think that it is clearly wrong that FD have decided to implement an insta-post system without first checking with me that I like the idea. Surely, it's clear that this system does not fit with my personal wish-list or play-style - and I certainly don't need to wait for any beta-testing to try the system out before I vent my spleen. I know exactly how all this will pan out before I see it. It's like Leamington Spa all over again.
PS: Should you wish to respond (please allow a week for your reply to delivered and for my reply to be delivered to you) by which time the forum mission board will have moved on to other matters and I'd have forgotten why I posted the original message...
Love to you all, wish you were here, etc.
PS: Before I'm accused of anything: I would have liked a delay in ship transport personally, but I'm happy to see how it goes. I'm not an FD fanboy, there's elements of the game I don't like and therefore don't use - which is what I intend to do with ship transfer if it doesn't work out well. I understand that the views expressed in this note may not reflect the views that you hold. I say tomato, you say tomato. If you don't like tomatoes then you might say potato.
PPS: Please don't reply to this thread about why instant ship transport is a good or bad thing. If you search the forum you *should* be able to find a more suitable thread - I think someone has brought it up previously, but I might be mistaken.
