Why pledge at all?

I'm sure I'm missing a trick somewhere but- if all the perks of different powers are available in their area regardless of if I'm pledged to them or not, why would I bother? For the 50 million payout for level 5 aside and the weapon(s)?

Unless the perks are available to a pledged member, of course?

No need if you aren't interested - you can just ignore powerplay as if it wasn't there.

DB has gone on record saying its intended for those that have "done everything" and want to take their influence/gameplay to a higher level in the galaxy

There are basic perks, like Arissa's bonus to bounty vouchers and combat bonds. But if you were to pledge and reach rank 2 I believe, then that bonus jumps to 50% because she is the #1 power for this cycle.

Ah, so the higher perks are for those who pledged only. That now makes total sense, thank you!

For honour and glory :)

But seriously joining a faction and participating can help to give some context and meaning to your game and enrich the experience if you let it.

That's a pretty weird statement for a sandbox game with "infinite freedom". Whether or not I'm interested in participating in PP I still wasn't really expecting it to suddenly be end-game. :(

I like doing my bit helping to prep, expand and fortify for the sirius corporation. Quite a lot of team work and strategy going on if you care to check out reddit for the factions. Doing this and some trading while trying to keep the exploration and trading CGs bubbling makes for some fairly hectic gameplay...

Because you care. If you dont, you shouldnt.

Perks are just a side dish for me.

The real fun is in meaningful Player interaction. You can have plenty of that if you pledge. Both friendly and hostile. Provided that you like to play on Open.

Hi I've been play power play a lot over the last week and it's cool.
You do not need to invest any credits at all to participate. You get free stuff.

1. At rank one you get a free 1000cr every week and some free stuff to participate. There you go 1000cr for next to nothing
2. It ups the danger, but just as much as you want. The Hostile tag just means you are fare game to other players. I've had no problems flying all over the galaxy and docking where ever I like.
3. There's more to do and you only need to do it if you want to.
4. If you have time and credits to burn then , yes there are bigger rewards but you still have to have got the credits from somewhere in the first place
5. You can join a community hub if you like
6. You can quit a faction at pretty much any time you like with no problems
7. If you get bored of a power you can defect and keep some of your bonuses and have the thrill of being on the run for a few days
8. you can do all the stuff you normally do.
9. It adds a bit of a strategy game on top
10. All list should go up to ten

Have a go. You can quit anytime you like with nothing lost.

Never regreted to join PP. For pretty much the same reasons Ben mentioned. I always missed that my actions don't change a thing. I could push Imperial Minor Powers as long i wanted, the system would still not change its general allegiance. And while PP is not perfect, it gave me reason. Actions have an impact, maybe not the actions of a single person - but the directed actions of many certainly do. And for me, it adds to my RP - as my Character is pretty fond of the ways the Empire works. I pledged to Zemina Torval, because she reflects my characters believes of what the Empire should be. I did not care about the Items i might get, i don't care about all the money i invest at times to support my faction. What i care about is a bunch of people that works together to bring their faction forward. So yea - i have fun with Powerplay. Needs polishing for sure and i don't agree with some decission FD made for it, but the basement is good imho.

Forget perks.

I have spoken to, helped, fought with, threatened (rp for Winters) and run from more real Commanders in the last two weeks than I have in beta, gamma and release put together.

On two occasions I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest. Interdicted and my python destroyed by a Cmdr Clipper that seemed to be a. More skilled and B. Less drunk than me. Second time alone in my Anaconda running fed aid, interdicted by a wing of 2 fdl, 1 Anaconda and a 4th unknown. They got me down to 1 ring while I panicked setting an H destination and jumping away. I giggled inanely on getting away.

Can't describe the tension.

For me, I love running with a faction. Winters Wolves for me.

Not for everyone though.
