Why should I dump my Python for a Fer de Lance/Vulture?

Hi guys.
I'd like to hear some reasons as to why use a FdL or Vulture instead of a Python when money are not an issue.
I'm currenlty using this loadout for bounty hunting, elite anacondas and for future strong signal sources hunting.

Is there any reason at all other than saving money to use a Fer de Lance over this ship? It looks to me it hits harder, is more durable, has better jump range and has cargo space to pirate or do the occasional mission. Only thing it's worse for is maneuvrability.

The 56M credit questions, are how much is the FDL going to cost and do you want to do anything other than fight stuff in a small range of systems.

Personally, If you've not got a combat python then the FDL is a good choice, if you have then it's not worth the downgrade imho

To put it simply a Python is a very ineffective Bounty hunting vehicle unless you mean only NPC's.

Any player pirate will just run away and a Pythons top speed can barly even catch a Type 6...

Depends what you use your python for TehGems, if you like versatility and NPC combat you probably shouldn't buy an FDL or a Vulture, if you want to seriously combat players however both have traits that are extremely useful vs other players, but pretty redundant against NPC's.

As Subsynk says pythons are slow, and speed is probably the most important statistic for genuine player combat.

And a FDL can't follow it's prey after it jumps out due to jumprange/fuel capacity. ;)

Few players jump into different systems when charging FSD in combat, those that do can be followed if within range. The Python has also a small FSD range in fact very similar to the FDL.

I've seen more enough opinions expressing the three ships all have their place and the Python is still viable.

yub.
i'll keep mine. as much as i like both of the new ships, they don't serve a purpose im my gameplay... i don't need a dedicated fighter.
my python will serve well as a mission runner. can fight, can do some transport.

Out of curiosity, to those that tried them, which one performs better in pvp, the vulture or the ftl?
In my eyes, at least on paper, it looks like the vulture is a beast in pvp while the fdl is more of a pve ship, as c4 cannon or plasma accelerator are easily dodgeable.

I liked the FDL more, didn't use the C4 option, put in a C3 laser instead.
BUT.... i really suck at flying ships that are too nimble. I just can't make use of their advantage.

I think as they start to fill out other parts of the game the different ships will each have their own merits that will start to stand out more. FDL is one hell of a cool ship to fly, just not really suitable for long distance travel.

Flown both in the beta. Liked the Vulture more, but it is probably a matter of taste. Both are great and very capable combat ships.

Why would you want one of the new ships? I also currently own a Python and am very excited about the Vulture. It is simply a JOY to fly. It is agile like an Eagle, packs a hefty punch, has great shields and good jump range... and I tell you.. the sounds the Vulture makes are just amazing :)

Will I sell my Python for it? No way. The Python will remain the space truck I drive for "work". But the Vulture will become the motorcycle I take on a weekend joyride when I want to feel the wind in my hair :)
