Zoo Tycoon Why so difficult to Breed?

Am I doing something very wrong or is it difficult to breed?

What I'm doing.

Maxed out Breeding center, upgraded, 3 star breeders.

Perfect enclosures, all in the green.

Male and female of the same species/type.

Enough zoo space.

I have 5 enclosures with a Breeder each yet get a baby once per hour???! Also some species just will not have a baby, namely monkeys, bears and hippos!

Any tips???

Have you got enough room in the enclosures? Each baby needs one space :)

Also check your zoo limit - if it is maxed out (in the red area) no babies will come as well.

Also the animals need to be super satisfied (but you mentioned they are). Have you directed your personal to an enclosure (so a green hat will be displayed while hovering over?)

I made the best results with a medium enclosure of the right type (doesn't need so much space nor raises the limit too much). So build 5-6 medium enclosures and use 2 females and 2 males in one. I got a lot of babies - even the colored ones.

Another last tip - buy low leveled animals - they breed faster - because they are not distracted by wisdom and freedom :)

As Pierre said, be sure to assign your breeding staff to the exhibits where you want the animals to breed.

Also, animals can only breed when they reach (I think) level 6+. Anything under that level cannot breed. Animals that are level 15 also seem to be disinterested in breeding so releasing them is probably the best option there.

yeah Tarahiro is right. When you go to your entrance and than select studies you can increase your breeding chances by doing a specific research group. There you can also increase the colored species chance by 50%. I recommend that as well :)
