Why Solo Play and Private Groups should be BANNED

It's simple because it splits the gamer base into sections, taking away real players from the universe and making it even more unlikely to play with other players and to finally stream the game into a multiplayer based gameplay.

There's nothing better than real player interaction. It comes also with the danger that you get killed. But isn't that the exiting thing about Elite, the dangerous in the title? Isn't that what really pushes you to find tactics, your personal style of gaming to avoid getting your butt hurt? Isn't that what in the end kicks the gameplay experience? Just cruising in a cotton bubble is something I think is pretty boring.

I just read about the Mobius incident. Jesus, a few players got killed, the guys got banned. Anything more happened? I don't see a real issue here.

If you're a trader, if you're an explorer or any other type of player that is vulnurable, play OPEN. It's getting you the right amount of spice and in the end it would finally force FDev to give us the multiplayer mechanics (ingame) that we need to make this game a great multiplayer experience. Would like to hire muscles for your valuable cargo? Got killed and want to get revenge by hireing a bounty hunter and pay him with your hard earned credits by direct cred transfer? etc. etc. etc. There are so many cool gameplay features this game could have but ... well ...

Cheers

I prefer the choice. I generally play in open though, but I like having the choice of wanting to play and not getting bothered by anybody.

+1 for general disagreement!

There's nothing bad with improving the multiplayer experience.
But that schouldn't result in removing Solo/PG for those who like it.
(I'm playing 100% in Open BTW)

Oh, look, it's another "why doesn't everyone want to play with me? clearly the answer is to force them to play with me!" thread.

NO

So, I have very poor internet. I play mostly solo, with very brief forays into private. I don't play open because my connection would impact mine and others gameplay. I'm not doing Powerplay. I get on and pootle around doing the odd RES fights. I understand most of the Open players frustration with the way the BGS is handled, but I'm also peed off at being lumped in as a "coward" or a "carebear" for not playing in Open. Some of you may want to remember it's not always a personal attack on how you play the game that keeps people out of Open, other factors are at play as well.
If Solo/Private were to vanish I would stop playing, simply because my experience would suck.
