Why Stop at 10 Years?

Yep 10 years. That's all we got! On the day after the 10 year anniversary they shut the servers down. Now, after almost 2 years we haven't explored 1% of the galaxy they have given us to romp about in. We'd better get moving.

I don't think they said they will shut down servers on year 10, if the game is a great success they will not give up to it, especially cause it is currently their biggest project.

It's a 10 year plan, because the engine is built to evolve with new technologies, and also because the entire game is like an empty house, everything will be added over time.
