Why stuff is green?

When your reputation with a faction increases above a certain threshold, you are allowed to use your ship's chlorophyll detector in their jurisdiction.... ;)

When you approach that station, target it and check it in your contact lists, note who is the 'owner',
then check your 'Right Panel' status, and scroll down.
You'll see you are either 'Friendly' or 'Allied' with the faction that owns the station.

All ships that are in that faction will also be 'Green' to you, and if you get in trouble and they are near by, they may even come to your rescue and start attacking whatever is attacking or /red/ to you.

You probably did:
- Enough Missions with that group.
- Enough Trade with that station.
- Been scanned and found 'clean' enough by those station's Authority

And that earned you enough faction to be 'Friendly'.
Keep that behavior up and you'll become 'Allied'.

Well done, it's a good thing, although, it is kinda freaky when you first see it! :)

P.S. When you're in super cruise, if you highlight or target a faction aligned ship, they'll show up as green too.. It's helpful when you see a SC ship sneak in behind you, if they're green, you know without having to be too terribly worried that it's most likely system authority, and not a pirate.

P.P.S. Some ships can be green, but still be 'Wanted' (Although I've not tried to bounty hunt them yet.)

I have, at an USS, with 3 green Vipers and a green wanted Cobra. As soon as I engaged the Cobra, the friendly or allied Vipers security vessels went all red on my radar and attacked my ship straight away, and I was just shooting the bad guy! :)

I was kinda afraid of that.

I was tempted to 'interdict' a Wanted green... But was afraid it would go against my faction, so I steered clear.

Thank you for sharing that valuable info!

Is that not worth to ticket it?
Maybe I do not understand the meaning of it?

A ship of your faction is "wanted" by your faction, so the pilot should be punished.
When you kill this ship for your faction you have done your faction a favor and you should climb in reputation, no?

Maybe the ship was wanted by another faction?

We have been discussing this in other threads, and I don't know yet either if that is intended gameplay or bug tbh... I don't understand it, but I haven't ticketed it either for now.

I'm not sure if that Cobra pilot was wanted to the same allied faction or a different one in the same system, but I know for sure he was wanted in the same system I engaged him, it was not a bounty in a different system that I had found out via the KWS.

The only reason i can imagine is that you have no rights at all within a faction, since you are not a policeman.
As independent bounty hunter, your can do what you want and hunt whoever you want.
But within a faction, this is over.

Hmm, that makes a lot of sense. Pilot federation bounty hunters are not authorized security vessels within factions even if you have a friendly / allied status... could be that, ya... and they will see you as hostile if you open fire on a faction member, even if he's wanted...

Can anyone explain what benefits you get from being allied to a station......

The faction reputation is designated as a modifier to all other reputation in the game, for example your trade reputation or your mercenary reputation.

Because the admission to a black market depends of your player reputation, the faction reputation affects also directly this admission to the black market.
Same for the prices on the legal market.
It is planned to have the possibility to contact a dealer for a specific good to try to modify the price in your favor.
The impact of your negotiations depends also on your player reputation which should be in this case a compostion of your trade reputation and your faction reputation.

This is as far as I have understood the DDA so far. I'm just learning too and I'm not an expert at all. So no limit or warranty! :D

this will happen even if you are not in alliance. Currently when you attack faction vessel, all other faction vessels will turn on you, wanted or not. makes bounty hunting in excration sites pointless, as not only you will get kill-stealed, rammed into asteroids, but also shot down . Fun.

Unless its the cops and you have 10 tons of narcotics and slaves in your cargo hold... that sort of stuff isn't good for your relationship :D

Does anyone know just how much you need to do to become friendly with a faction? Because I've been hauling stuff around Eravate for days and still they don't think I'm friendly enough to turn themselves green :)
