Why was default option changed to [LAUNCH] at landing pad?

The patch notes said the default was changed to Station Services. Maybe you had got in the habit of pressing "down" as soon as you land?

Nope, I know for a fact I didn't do that.
Because my muscle memory engrained for the last 3 weeks is to press [povhat_left] to [enter hangar] and press [joy1] to look for suits and weapons. :D
The only thing that could be it (IMHO) is that the option [refuel] is no longer the default and that it stays on the last used one (launch from pad)?
In tonight's session I will check what happens at landing and take-off.

I finally got time to go in game and check and you are quite correct - defaults to LAUNCH - so whoever coded the change made a complete culus of it.

Yep, me too confirmed it.
Landed at about 15 different ports and at every landing the default is the last used, being [LAUNCH]
When you select [HANGAR] and leave it there, the moment you go to the hangar it changes to [station services]
from then on every menu change it defaults to [station services]

I really start to think that there is no serious playtesting at all after coding these "fixes".

Dear FD,
I have difficult times understanding why the change has been introduced
Set default focus to "starport services" on docking menu.

I was happy when the buttons have been added:
refuel | repair | restock | hangar
because they did save time
And as a combat pilot I could do this after docking:
  1. press hangar (because you need to turn around ship anyway for next launch)
  2. press left button, press space (restock)
  3. press left button, press space (repair)
  4. press left button, press space (refuel)

Now this sequence does not work
And I have not figured out yet what to do now

Could you please:
  1. get rid of any "auto focusing" in the menu? Because it feels unpredictable currently.
  2. wrap around navigation in the menu? We had this in old ED version. That is, when I am at last item and pressing down it will move to first item. [the same way pressing left on refuel button navigates focus to hangar button, that's good]

Thank you for the game and attempts to make it better! :)

The setting after docking at a station should stay at refuel like it was before.
At many places in the UI I register a flipping away of the focus from the point I set, back to another point.
For example at the transactions near the navpanel.
We don't need the FDevs to show us what fantastic functions they are able to program that focus flips away
to places where I don't want it. We need logical and easy to use functions.

It IS super annoying how my UI seems to do what it wants these days. I don't like that I have to perform an action then think quickly to take my hand off the input key just so I don't accidentally do something. Bad enough that the menu exit buttons in Galaxy/System view sometimes don't work and I spam ESC to exit them, which invariably brings up the pause/options screen a second later.

The new UI asthetics I like, perhaps because I'm new enough to not be offended. But the new UI FUNCTION is terrible.

A weird thing I've noticed is press refuel will move the cursor to station services, repair to launch, and rearm to disembark. Might have mixed up those last two. It still acts like you clicked refuel, repair, or rearm before moving the selected button, and doesn't auto click the other button after rrr, but it's just an odd thing I noticed.

Yeah, its like the click sets focus to current button + 4 instead of keeping focus on the current selected item (better), ore returning to a single default (not so good, for the reasons dm06 mentions above).

FWIW, in my eyes, Launch should always be a conscious decision to move to and select, and never ever a default.

Launch should always be a conscious decision.

and yea, the way they decided to 'default' selects is confusing as heck.

Yes, this.

Station Services is fine for the default selection immediately after touchdown, but please stop having the selection jump around afterwards and keep it on the currently selected item.

And please get rid of the "Unavailable: Anonymous" message when there's no anon access in effect.

Thank you!
