Why were Mining Missions nerfed?

Since season 2, I'm finding mining missions very rare. So rare in fact, that they make no difference to the profitabilaty of mining.

Personally, I want the small amount of reputation these missions give more than the credits.

I don't want to have to log in and out of open/Solo to get a decent mission spawn, but even this doesn't seem to improve things much.

so. Why have mining missions been nerfed so badly?
 
All missions were hit, not just mining.

It's more of a problematic state of the bulletin board than a type of missions really. There should be ways to have missions available at all times and also avoid stacking.
 
There are more missions now and same amount of missions spawns as before. So change to get one you want is smaller now.

No. There are far fewer mining missions than can be explained by the extra mission types.
Pirate Kill missions are another example of an over-nerfed mission type. they used to be common, but now hardly exist at all.
 
I find mining missions plentiful enough, until such time as I have the audacity to actually turn up with a hold full of Painite/Platinum/Palladium/Osmium. Then I can't get a mission for love nor money.

Done this a few times now, just to prove it's not random chance. The one time it did spawn a mission, it was for the opposition minor faction that I didn't really want to support.
 
Also i dont think pirate missions are nerfed...i took two identical pirate missions at the same station...both were take down 36 pirates in system...i have never seen the number of pirates so high which was kinda cool...also both paid out 800k
 
I've found Industrial planets are better than High-tech ones at spawning mining missions lately.

The other thing they added that reduces acceptable mining missions is a Trade rating prerequisite. Many times I'm sitting there at a station with a hold full of PPO and I see missions demanding PPO, but only from a player with Tycoon rating. What, my platinum not good enough for you? I've got the goods already, isn't that proof enough of my trading/mining prowess?

Personally, I cruise around booking up a dozen or so mining missions before I go out mining. It saves time trying to find them afterwards, and is less risky because I don't have to be flying around randomly jumping system to system with pirate bait in my hold. It also gives me minimum targets of each PPO metal I need to aim for.
 
I have to agree there are less now. In my area I used to go two jumps to a system with 3 stations and could get as many as 5 mining missions. Now I am lucky to find 1 across two different systems :-(
I don't even bother now. I just go to the closest station and sell, its not worth the time to go to another system as they are so rare in my area.

I agree. Actually having metal in you hold seems to stop the missions. I don't always have the time to complete a whole mining run in a night, so taking missions beforehand isn't always an option. Also, going mining with several missions is a guarantee of interdiction madness to and from the mining site.
 
Yes all missions have been not so much nerfed as nuked. I used to love juggling 10 trading missions active at the same time, and trying to line them all up in the most profitable chain, now I just go A-B-A with commodity X and Y and hope one day Lord David releases this to modders so we can put our own missions in.

I think the idea behind the mission nerf was to reduce people's expectations of rewards from 10m/hr to 10k/hr, but that hardly makes sense when thrusters for a big ship cost 200m and the 'death penalty' then goes from 2 hrs grind to 20 hrs grind.

This 100%. I knew I wasn't being paranoid... though I think I'm being followed by the Feds *shifty eyes*
 
The new type of missions are great.

However, I really wish Frontier would remove all the missions you have no way of getting removed from the board.

I dont want to see missions where I lack the combat/trade/exploration rank to get, or the ones I dont have the needed status with the faction in question. These are nothing but clutter and space stealers. So lets get some filtering in.

Available but unobtainable mission list should only include those that I cant take due to ship limitations. That boils down to cargo space.

And to go even further, then I would like a custom filter for the user. So you can exclude all the mission types you dont want at all.
