Horizons Why would anyone do this? New levels of idiocy in missions.

So I am grinding faction missions and one of them is an assassination mission for an escaped convict. I jump into the system he was last seen in and immediately an NPC says 'thank goodness you are here...follow me in for something you will find of interest'

So I wake follow him in - fully expecting an ambush - I go in with guns drawn. Immediately he says 'Listen man, you dont have to do this. I'n innocent, I tells ya. I should have never been locked up in the first place.'

'Just let me go and I can make it worth your while.'

So I think to myself - I am grinding faction, looking for an escaped prisoner - thank you very much. So I open fire, he is no match for me and destroy him within in few seconds. Only to see I am now Wanted because it turns out that wasn't the convict I had been asked to kill.

Who thinks up this ?! Seriously - what kind of muppet would go up to a copper looking for an axe murderer and say 'Hey, I'm not the one you want - but I am also an axe murderer and expect to walk away?!' It's totally ludicrous.

I have always found the missions in E: D to be a bit of flimsy side but this moronic.

Also, just because a mission say's to go kill some one.

Does not mean that the said some one is going to have a wanted tag.

It's not only pirates people want rid of :)

FYI, if the NPC is your target, it will say "Mission Target" on his ship info in your bottom left info panel screen. It will at least say he's wanted.

Otherwise, you're killing an innocent person, according to game logic anyways.

It sounds like it was him, did it show up as mission target in red?? Missions can be against NPC who are not wanted and you will get a bounty..

I've never seen an escaped convict mission where the target was not wanted. I suspect he killed the target's mouthpiece (like the guys who try to buy you off when you are hunting pirates - they themselves are not wanted even though they are representing the pirates).

You should have waited till he offered you to abandon your mission for the good cause. Next time you take a hauling missions for a few hundret thousand credits, don't forget to follow the guy who wants to talk to you and enjoy his "He, why don't you let your 500k mission fail and I offer you a generous 250 credits?"
