Why you should not SC or HS-Jump after a nice Fight ...

... you should not leave the current instance and instead have a good look at your ship.

Of course your shields must have been down at least once to receive such damage.
Yes i know this is old news, but maybe a few people here don't know about this.

Nice!!

I got back to station recently with broken canopy and wanted to see it from the outside. When I turned on the camera it was all in one piece even before I did repairs. I was bummed!

Now I know when to look in the future. thanks.

I really miss ship wear. I've got some great pictures of my old Viper showing a 'nice' amount of wear. Makes the ships a little more believable somehow.

Why on earth does this damage disappear when you leave the instance, it's really sad. Also yes, bring back proper W&T for paintwork the current iteration is sorely lacking compared to how it used to look.

That's excellent ! I didn't realise all the damage stayed on your ship before you hit SC. I will check out mine next time the shields drop.

Great pics, I didn't know this occurred at this level, also didn't realize damage would disappear when you leave. Too bad.

Heh. Too bad they took ship wear out. I'd been keeping up the paintjob on my FDL, even though it never repaired all the way. Then I experimented with SCing .4Ly to try to bring a system that was out of FSD range into range for a jump.

Didn't work, apparently what's "in range" is determined by what you see in the galaxy map, no matter how far you travel under SC first. :/

When I got to another base, my Ship Integrity and paintwork were both down to 3%... And my FDL's paint looked just as good as it had when I had it fixed up before I left. So now I don't even bother to repair paintwork anymore. why should I when it makes no difference?

Not sure what is happening with you guys but my Cobra is continuing to wear. Not only is it doing so but I can't repair the paint so it's starting to make me look bad.

I wonder if this looks different with different plating types... Anyone checked this yet?

Good question.
Unfortunately I did not check this out with different types.
The two fights seen in my screenshots were both with Military Grade Composite and each time my opponent was an Anaconda that seemingly wanted to cut my ship into pieces.

It would add a significant amount of personality to ships if they retained wear and damage, I'd like to have a dingy trader, a roughed up Vulture and a pristine Anaconda. +1 for persistent damage/wear.

Really like the damage model from beam lasers, looks pretty awesome! Really wish the damage to the paint stayed, I would love to have a horribly scarred RES brawler :)

I miss the old wear & tear from like 10 months ago:
