Wierd little system

Ok so i'm currently hanging around in LP 385-58 which I've decided is insignificant as a system and.....well.... a bit weird.

First weird thing - it has no planets on the system map except it does have a ringed planet with 3 extraction sites. The planet does not exist on scanners, you can't target it and there is no reference to it anywhere but it's there.

Then a conflict arose the other day and I decided to check out the conflict zones of which there are four, three low intensity and one high intensity. the weird thing here is there is no conflict. There are a bunch of ships at each zone all of them marked as system defense and they just fly around in a big loop. There is no option to join a side or align with a faction and there is no fighting, not even any swearing apart from me trying to work out that the **** is going on.

It's made me wonder if players have found other similarly weird and nonsensical systems out there? Also if anyone can shed light on the planet that's not a planet that would be quite helpful or why there is no conflict in the conflict zones?

The conflict zone thing is a bug, you will find these occasionally.

The planet that you can't target and that isn't on the system map is weird though, I agree.

Do you have a discovery scanner equipped?

This. I've seen loads of systems that don't appear on the scanner. This is because it's not been 'discovered' by you, so your navigational computer knows nothing about it. Check it with a disco scanner and they'll pop up for you to target :)

Do you have a discovery scanner equipped? I've heard of players who couldn't target things in the left-hand panel because they don't have a discovery scanner equipped - but it's usually small things like belts or RES sites. Gas giants should still show even without a discovery scanner because they are so freaking big. I mine without a discovery scanner and when I log on I can't target RES sites in rings I mine at, but I can target the planet, fly there, and then target the RES sites when I get up close. When you get close to the planet, is it targetable?

No I don't have discovery scanner, I'm flying a vulture so I'm decked out for combat.

Just for the sake of curiosity I might just get one to see if that is the case but undiscovered items usually come up on my scanner as undiscovered - I've found a few anomalous objects that don't show up, very small moons that are not in orbit or moving around another body they just sit there - maybe it's time to get a disco scanner.

I fly a combat spec vulture with an advanced discovery scanner - gives me something to do when trekking and scooping between short-lived community goals :)
A bit weird, I know, but it works for me.

(I only had a hull reinf package in that slot before, so not giving up much really)

There is the issue. Without even a basic scanner, your ship will not see any planets or stars in the system that you haven't found in the past... This includes that humongous ball of plasma that the planets orbit.

I encountered one of those peaceful high intensity combat zones last night. Multiple pythons, clippers, cobras and eagles in a serene dance.
