I would like to see local wild animals visit the zoos. For example, a small flock of ducks could paddle about the water area of a Hippo enclosure. Gulls and pigeons could land on overflowing trash bins. Here in Florida we see Ibis and Egrets and Pelicans frequently stopping in to visit an animal enclosure.
(hmm all my examples are birds; I'm trying to think of other animals that might visit...)
Squirrels. The little bushy-tailed rats. I can hear them, mocking me. Someday, revenge will be mine! But seriously, squirrels are definitely common in many places. Crows, pigeons, and mallard ducks are found all over the world, and there are also things like ibis, magpies, blackbirds, mockingbirds, and egrets, which are common in some areas, but not in others. Then for non-birds there are actual rats, but they're generally associated with bad sanitation and disease, so most people wouldn't want them in their zoos, or maybe lizards, while the type of lizard varies from place to place, lizards of form can be found nearly anywhere.
