Wildwood Classics

I am going to make some classic indoor themed rides that used to be in Wildwood, NJ well a few are still there. The ones I might make are Keystone Kops (antique cars) indoor and outdoor ride, was on the former Hunt's Pier, the ride was removed around 1994-1995. Castle Dracula and Dungeon, was on Nickels Midway Pier, castle built 1976-1977, boat ride 1919, burned Jan 16, 2002. I'll use a log flume for the dungeon and the walk through part above will be empty for now. Dante's Inferno/Dungeon, on Morey's Pier, opened 1981, still there. Will use cat cars. Dark River/Pirates of Wildwood, on Morey's Piers, opened 1992 still there. Will use log flume. Haunted House, Morey's Pier, walk-through, opened 1972, removed after 1984. Dr. Blood's House of Horror, Sportland Pier, opened 1970's, closed after 1983, razed 2007 with props and other stuff saved and put into storage. Will use antique cars. Lost World, Fun Pier, opened early 1960's as Bat Cave, renamed Devil's Inn, renamed Lost World late 1970's, burned down Nov. 24, 1984. Will use cat cars. Castle Frankenstein, Fun Pier, walk-through, opened as 2-floor ride through called Seascape early 1960's, became Castle of Frankenstein 1973, moved to rear of pier and became a walk-through in 1978, closed late summer 1982, burned August 1984. Pirate Ship Skua, on former Hunt's Pier, walk-through, opened 1962, razed early 1989. Will use big pirate ship in PC as part of the structure. www.funchase.com and www.darkinthepark.com have more info about these rides. Wildwood was my favorite childhood vacation spot, we went there between 1980-1983. We also went there Aug 1995, June 1996 and 1998, and July 5-9, 2011. PC doesn't have enough spooky/horror scenery so I will improvise.

Castle Dracula

How funny. I was just looking at the Castle Dracula pages the other day. I loved the Wildwood boardwalk as a kid, and I remember being taken through both parts of the castle :)

Here are videos of the walk/boat ride if you didn't already have them. They're pretty clear for being so old, but still dark in most places for the obvious reason:

I found a Facebook group, and there are tons of pictures of the boardwalk from all eras: https://www.facebook.com/wildwoodnostalgia/. They even have a layout map of the walk-through portion of the castle: https://goo.gl/72oQ0T

And here's a haunted mansion track ride from the Steam Workshop with all sorts of triggered actions. It's very impressive: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802191319. It feels Keystone Kops-ish, but I somewhat doubt there are enough props that could look "cops and robbers" at the moment. Here's where allowing custom objects and sounds could make all the difference :/

Oh, and... "Watch the tram car, please!" :D

I made a Keystone Kop character by using the colored objects. The Keystone Kop ride from Hunt's Pier is my first project. I rode that as a kid in 1982-1983. None of the Hunt's rides are there anymore and the Golden Nugget was rebuilt at Knoebel's. I might just make an entire Hunt's Pier and maybe others like Morey's the way it was. And a Castle Dracula. The pirate ship in the game looks just like the pirate ship walk through Hunt's had, I would need to build the building under it and behind it. I actually started a Wildwood park in RCT3 circa 1982-1983 a while back. Planet though has no billboards, Giant Slide, Gravitron, Scrambler, Red Baron planes, Musik Express, Himalaya, Inverted Swinging Ship like the Ranger, and more. All those rides Wildwood had. Hunt's Pier had a log flume and river rapids though. Rapids on Hunt's and Zoom Phloom log flume on Morey's were new for 1985. The rapids was recently partially removed, with some remains left behind. Hunt's was Dinosaur Beach from 1996-1998. Morey's bought the pier several months after it closed. It now has go-karts, mirror maze, a shop, maintenance shed which housed a dinosaur dark ride 1996-1998, and storage sheds for tram cars, and another shed which had an arcade in 1996-1998. Sportland Pier went downhill, too the rides closed after 1983 and the pier became dilapidated, with most of the old rides removed several years later. A two floor dark ride stood until 2007. Go-karts are the main ride on the pier now. The pier was sold in 1981 and 1984. The 1984 owner had zero interest in running the rides so they sat and fell apart during the rest of the 1980's. He started cleaning up the pier then the go-karts came in by 1992.
