Will a delay in 2.1 mean a delay in 2.2? Will 2.1 get more weapons due to delay?

I think in my mind it is obvious the delay is in order to fix existing problems, not to add extra features other than those planned. You know those constant whinge threads that have been apparent for the last year and a half? Yeah that's why.

David Braben already said that the delay in 2.1 will not necessarily delay 2.2 as these are already being worked on simultaneously. So 2.2 is progressing already. Much in the same way that CQC didn't delay 1.5/2.0 because they were different teams.

The delay on 2.1 left me shaken and disturbed, and all the questions kept coming up over and over again, like bubbles in a case of club soda. Who was this character without hair? And why was he looking so grumpy? And for whom? Did FDEV lie to me? I didn't have any proof, but somehow, I didn't entirely trust them either. Why was the 'huge railgun' not listed in the newsletter? And if it was, did they know about it? And if they didn't, who did? And where the hell was I?
..see you out there in the noir, Cmdr Marlowe!

I'm on Team Hoping-Everything-Is-Delayed. IMHO they previously haven't had enough time for catching up on bugs and polish while adding new framework, and I'd prefer not to have new bugs laid on top of old or risk potentially-wonderful new systems being thinly-iterated and falling short.

It's a tightrope walk - on the one hand, there presumably needs to be new content arriving quickly to attract and maintain ongoing development funding, but that new content can't be too thin or buggy or unpolished. Err too much in either direction (quick vs good) and I assume you start to lose players. :/
