Will FD do anything about the grindy and no personallity feel of ED

I mean, the game is a mecha of heaven without any personallity what so ever!

No organic lifeforms visualized in the game.

Total waste to introduce a 3d pilot in 1.3 if there is no way to customize its appearance.

Will FD do anything to make the big Three grinds less grindy?

Will there ever be some kind of social aspect to the game as in places to visit e.g bars, shops to hang out in?

1.3 will make it the big 4 grinds:p

Quite looking forward to mining / bounty hunting in my Conda

I hide away in the back room playing elite to get away from the wife dragging me round shops. I go to the pub with my friends on a Tuesday night which is nice and I play in Mobius group and chat to players in game whilst piloting my spaceship. Teamspeak server has a pub a grotto and a lounge in it.

Don't grind. And play with people who have personalities! :)

Yup you are right. Been playing open the last Days and only had one encounter with Another player interested in forming wing.
We Went to a res site and I got wanted due to a bug with showing anarchy system when that is not the case. Got a 750 Bounty and my wingman starts to attack me :)

Also tried to play wihtout grinding, but its not possible for me. I try to fly around messing with things but Always endup at a res. site grinding Money !!!

Find a better wing man. That one was a [Redacted].

There was a hint that customising your pilot would come in the future and I am hopeful that when we can leave the pilots seat we will be able to mingle with other commanders on the station. :)

To earn money, you need to work (grind) for it, just like you do in real life. Unless you can find a way to earn money without working (grinding). :D

I would imagine there will be avatar customisation introduced when our alter egos can actually DO something, like walk around. I just hope the customisation is going to be good.

For what it's worth, you're right. There are many things that just make it feel a little too sterile. From little things, like not using your name in comms or BB jobs. Like Founders World speaking to founders as if they are scum. Black Market options on the main screen, rather than what they had in FFE. The whole NPC comms thing is lifeless and repetitive.

While I enjoy the game, and don't personally grind at anything, I simply do "stuff", I see my rep change, I see my ships and credits change, but yet I am apart from the galaxy. Hoping 1.3 will address at least one of these.. :)

After reading letter #75, I'm beginning to feel a little disappointed. There is still no mention of work in progress for the extra content that was much talked about, prior to release.
It would be nice to hear if they are working on anything related to enlarging the ED gaming experience, i.e. planets, walking in ships etc. Just a nod from the devs towards the subject, would do.

Grinding is a mindset developed by gamers who don't really want to game.

I mine, I explore, I bounty hunt. ..I do not grind, ..I do not care about my credits ..I do not think the only/ultimate aim in the game is to buy the largest ship.

Planets and walking on ships were always earmarked for expansions. Those things are going to be out for the next few months at least, but there are a few things I would expect coming up:

Finish the 30 ships (25+5, once the 25 is done, then the last 5 will contain the free ship I would guess).

Add passengers and NPCs, who will interact with you before and during flight, and be more organic. Imperial Slaves commodity -> Gone; Imperial Slave passenger -> In.

Custom pilot suits is something I would hope happens sooner than the expansion though. I spent about an hour making my character's face in Dark Souls 2, and would do so again here. Hopefully this will lead onto bars and such, with faces to NPCs in the above too.

Agreed. Considering 'the grinding' is based on the core gameplay of two previous games and most closely resembles the first of those (considered a classic defining moment in gaming history) in terms of game and resembles the other two more in terms of setting. This game is that original game brought up to speed with 21st century computing power and a LOT more available to do in terms of secondary things around the core gameplay.

But people seem to consider those secondary things to be the game (and lacking) whereas the core mechanism of the game is considered only to be a grind.
