Will I not lose Prismatic Shields?

I've read someone post before, not sure if I understood what they meant, that they bought prismatic shields, then stored them in the storage, only to later find out they were gone, not sure if because of bug or by design, but doesn't happen to normal equipment.

I just want to make sure, if I buy prismatic shields now, that I don't lose them later, since they are expensive.

Can I store them in storage safely if I decide to use other shields once in a while? I know if I leave Aisling Duval, I won't be able to buy more prismatic shields, but can I keep the ones I have in storage without the risk of losing them and not being able to equip them again?

Yes, you can store them safely and leave Aisling.

Of course you can.
If something is suddenly missing from storage, this is a bug, not intended mechanic.

Phew, lol. Thanks guys, for setting my mind at ease.

I'm about to spend around 100 million in a 7A Prismatic and a 6A Prismatic, I was worried that after buying, if I leave Aisling Duval, as the game doesn't let us buy another one, it would also not let me use the ones I have in storage because I wasn't in Aisling Duval anymore.

But you confirmed there is no danger in losing my shields, so I'm going to go ahead and buy.

I have dozens of every kind of Powerplay module except for the meh-ning laser. Although many are stored on my fleet of Cutter storage hulks, others are stored in Outfitting. Don't worry - as others have said, nothing short of a bug will deprive you of them.

You will keep them.

Personally I think it's wrong and you should lose them and any faction only ship should be impounded
(I mean during the cold war if you were flying in the RAF and left to join russia's airforce, the RAF wouldn't let you keep your Vulcan bomber) a little realism would be so much nicer imo.

There really should be a penalty for turning traitor.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you Steve50, I don't think your analogy is appropriate; in an armed force you use the equipment provided in E.D. WE OWN our own equipment. Having qualified and bought the modules I feel it is entirely reasonable to keep access to them even if the supplier will no longer deal with you.....but this does beg the question should you be able to get them back via the insurance company along with things like engineered effects ?

I can recall how (back when Frontier were talking about how Powers would fail and be removed) it seemed odd that it could actually be in a player's venal self-interest to get the best modules, then work to destroy the Power to prevent others from getting them.

However, as it was eventually revealed that the failure mechanic had yet to be devised, and that was two years ago, this concern became academic.

This.

PP modules are purchased by the players, not given as a gift

"Cutter storage hulks"? What do you mean? I thought storage was our only way to store modules.

You have the right to your ideas and opinions, but players can leave powers for many reasons, like for example if I don't want to do powerplay anymore at all and want a peaceful life away from powerplay, I can leave Aisling Duval and not join another power, that wouldn't be traison.

The way the game works, that if someone leaves a power for any reason will be chased by that power, reminds me of Scientology and the Mafia.

As for what you said that you think we should lose the powerplay modules, by that same principle, would you lose your Imperial Clipper as well if you left an Imperial power? Would you lose your Federal Assault Ship or Federap Gunship if you left a Federation power?

Actually, Outfitting Storage is quite a recent addition to Elite. Before that, the only way to store modules was by putting them on ships stored in the Shipyard.

However, even with the addition of Outfitting Storage, the practice of storing additional modules on ships survives as a way of overcoming the Outfitting Storage limit on the number of modules that can be stored.

Hence, like a lot of endgamers, I have hundreds of modules stored across scores of ships.

I'm just impressed you have a fleet of cutters

If money isn't an issue buy an 8 too. You'll want it for your cutter eventually.

Yes, you should lose them. The ship should be impounded and you paid a nominal fee (so you don't lose everything)
I just like consequences for being a traitor and shifting alliances, atm there is none whatsoever.

That is also correct once you leave Aisling you will not be able to buy any more until you rejoin with her faction. I spent almost 1B cr on three of each class of prismatics which went into storage, those 8A's are very pricey
