Will my friends and I be able to visit each other's parks?

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and learning about Planet Coaster. This looks like an amazing game and I am really looking forward to it. [heart] Does anyone know how social media and, I don't want to say co-op, but online game play will work?

Will we be able to visit other people's parks and open ours to the internet? I remember playing Zoo Tycoon constantly and wanting to share my zoo with my friends. When I had company over I would open my park and make them walk through it. Ha ha ha.

You can already save your parks and send the save file to your friends to load into their game. Multiplayer and/or co-op has not been confirmed, but many people are hoping for these features and I think theres a good chance well get something along those lines. Not sure if it will include co-op building or just multiplayer first person modes. Hopefully both tho [big grin]

Being able to "visit" someone else's parks will be possible (This functionality is announced since the first " Dev Diaries"), but we really don't know many things about this feature.
There are still many questions about it ...

How it works ?
Is it a real "visit" with a real "first person character", or a "fake visit" by downloading the park of a friend and using the "tegidcam" feature ?
(Maybe that's why they don't talk so much about the "character creation tool" for the VIP ticket, because you also can make your "guest" to visit other parks ?)
Is it something that you can do "online" with your friends (like the new feature of the game "Theme Park Studio") or alone with others "NPC guests" ?
Is it possible to include UGC in the shared parks ? If yes, are the parks including custom content will be marked with a specific icon ?
Is it possible to open your park to everyone ? only your friends ? What if you want to lock it temporarily ? Will it be possible to block the access to one friend (or more) without removing it from your friends list ? The best parks from people I do not know will also be accessible to visitors ?
Is a multiplayer mode planned ? If the multi is planned, is it hosted on the Frontier servers or do we need to host your park ourselves with our own server like minecraft ? Or is the game use p2p technique ? With co-op to build a park ? Competition between players "companies" ? Will it be possible to test every rides in first person ? Leave a message to the park owner/creator ? rate the park ? We know that we can use the FPV camera of any "passive" rides, but what about the "active" rides like mini-golf, go-kart ? What about the interactions with objects (like benches, chairs) ?

And many other questions ... I could not stop [woah]

We surely learn more in the "Alpha 3" which will focus on "Adds Community Functionality and Blueprints"

... but one thing is sure, the answers to these questions will determine if this game is just a game for "fans of simulation games" or if it is accessible to all. This is a much a very important strategic point here, and this will have a very significant impact on sales, by opening the game to other target, or not.
"Building a theme park" is something but "visiting and exploring" themes parks, experience uniques "rides" (special to like darkrides and coasters) from other players in first person, and all maybe with friends, is something that everyone could love.

For the first time, a feature will not determine if the game is good (because it already is) but influence its audience.

Anyway, I find it exciting and I just can't wait to know what they have in mind and how they will handle it !!! [happy]

I'm sure well be able to choose which of our parks we want to "share" and which we dont. Similar to Super Mario Maker

Competition between players "companies" ?
interesting idea, sounds like it would be extremely challenging to program into the game though. Like what would the outcome serve?

I don't know how SuperMarioMaker works, but I guess yes.

But that's just a guess, we are all like John Snow for now, about the "visiting/online/sharing/social/etc..." features, we know nothing.

Depend how far they go.
This can be a simple "Wall of Fame" (with the "company" score of all the players) or something more complex. Idk.

But I'm not a big fan of this idea, I just know that the "CCC" multiplayers modes are frequently asked (contemplative, competitive, cooperative).
Personally, I think that the contemplative mode is the most important to work on (first person visit with an avatar, with friends as a bonus, and with minigames/interactions as a bonus) and, why not, the cooperative mode to build parks together ("minecraft" mode), but I think that the competition between player on this kind of game is not a good idea (strategically speaking, not in terms of gameplay of course, because such a feature would be great for sure)

That said, if we have the three, I would not be against (although this is highly improbable)

co-op multiplayer? yes, that is very important to me

competitive? doesnt seem like it would be good for this game

Wall of Fame is the same as park sharing, especially if there is a rating system (a la mario maker, or LBP, or modnation)

Added enjoyment for some people, but not all.
all competition does is make some people say "Im better than you" thats fine for sports or competitive games, which PC is not. PC is about creativity

Some might like it, but personally I wouldn't unless comments could be posted to give constructive suggestions on how to make it better.

I was joking [pirate]

Oh... were you talking about visiting parks, as in online? Why are you against that, or why do you think it could be better?

The only wish i have regarding a possible "real" Multiplayer is the following:

Imagine you and your Friend build simultaniously a Theme Park (not on the same Plot of Land of course, but in their on Game so to speak.) There is a finite Number of Guests and both compete for these Guests. The more attractive a Park is, the more Guests will flock to that Park.

But of course i would want to have an easy ingame Way to "visit" or download the Parks of the Members of this Forum for example.

...and remember: friends don't vomit in their friend's parks.

(their enemies' parks however...)

[edit] just a wild thought: that could be the basis of a ride-rating system so you could rate other's rides. All the way from an enthusiastic Woo-Hoo! with your avatar jumping for joy. On Through "Whatever." with a shrug. All the way down to "so awful it made me puke" -- with the appropriate avatar animation.
