Will my PC be able to handle Elite Dangerous?

Ok so I'm getting a new PC and I was wondering if I would be able to handle this game?
Specs:

RAM-8GB
Processor-3.8GHz Quad-Core AMD FX-4300 (Max 4GHz)
Hard Drive-1TB SATA
Multi Drive Graphics Controller-NVIDIA GeForce GT610
Video Memory-1GB Dedicated Digital Video

Definitely will be able to run it but start it will minimum settings and increase and observe performance and adjust as necessary

did not bother to read the thread, but everything you need to know is here, just check the spec the game states you need against what you have/going to buy and see if you meet or exceed the requirements, if you do, then you can play it fine.

How can this PC run ED on ultra? Even high is going to be too much for that GPU. It has GT610 - which in no way is a gaming GPU, it is far lower than minimal requirements of ED. I doubt that even with setting everything to low, setting the lowest resolution possible it is going to provide even 10-15 frames per second.

Well the minimum requirements is either set high to be safe or my PC is a beast without me knowing! I am running, get ready for it......A dual core processor running at 2.93Ghz with a Nvidia GTX 9800+ 768MB GPU. Runs all day long at 40-60FPS stable as you like on Medium settings. So in short, the OP PC will run ED just fine, just maybe not on Ultra.

Yes you can run it but I'd invest in a new graphics card at somepoint then the CPU after. You won't get max settings but it should play fine on lower.....

According to the specifications 9800GTX+ is 7 times more powerful than GT 610:

EDIT: Not to mention that 9800 GTX+ has a better texture fill rate compared with GTX 260, which is listed in the minimal requirements.

It will run OP, but the GPU is simply not enough for much more than 10 to 15 fps if you're lucky, as Aleksej says.

If you have already purchased the pc then fair enough, but if not I would avoid it.

You can do better for the money.

According to the few benchmark sites I just checked, a gtx9800 performs MUCH better than a gt610.
Edit: eh.. too late ;)

Wow, I wasn't aware of that. I got it as a freebie from work when we decommissioned one of our simulation labs and there was a bunch of these little beauties going "free to a good home" still in their anti static bags! Anyway, my original point although evidently somewhat wrong and misguided and I stand corrected, was that the minimum requirements is not necessarily that accurate. It states quad core and I only have a dual.

But isn't it better/cheaper to buy a PC with the suitable GPU right away?

And why are you planning to invest in GTX660? Are you planning to buy a used one? As the price of the new GTX 660 is about the same as for the GTX 960, and choosing between these two, I'd go for GTX 960.

I looked at other PCs that had a suitable GPU and the prices dramatically increase into the $1,000 range whereas if I just replace the graphics card the total is around $700.
If I'm missing something please tell me. :)

Probably, you are looking at pre-built PCs... In case you do not have enough experience to build a PC on your own, I'd look for the e-tailers or retailers that provide an option to select components to build a PC.
