Will Thargoids stick around after 2.4?

It would be a shame to get all that anti-Thargoid Tech and then have no Thargoids to blow up-I mean, negotiate trade routes with.

I wonder if, in the best case scenario, we beat the Thargoids out of the bubble, but they still pose a threat to our way of life.

Don't see why they wouldn't.
I mean powerplay and CQC has stuck around this long, so I wouldn't expect the 2.4 content to go anywhere.

Why would they develop that big a content for just a limited amount of time?

I'm just curious about the 2.4 narrative. Either the Thargoids continue to pose a threat, or they don't. If the latter, then those weapons are of limited use (unless they can be used, and are effective against, other players).

They'll stick around just like powerplay, cqc and ship launched fighters.

But those features aren't narrative-driven, with players deciding how their existence plays out.

I expect this is content that can be consumed in a year by new players as well. Aside from maybe a couple of "events" or CGs.

Given Elite's nature this Thargoid gameplay will have to be present in the game for the long run, i.o.w. permanently.
This is not a limited time action game in which a player is the hero and saves the universe and gets the girl in the end.

I expect the Thargoid presence to be influenceable by players in certain areas.
Most likely for the long run (the rest of the ED's existence) there will be areas where the chances of encountering Thargoid based gameplay mechanics increases, with areas of varying degrees of difficulty and there will be permanent, unchangeable Thargoid space with Thargoid home planets and planetary and space based constructions.

This is the only way to do it for a open ended game like ED. Players will need to have permanent access to this new content.

Well, for now they've been introduced in a very narrative way.. and every story has an end.
So whether or not they stay around after 2.4 is a mystery, but they'll have to evolve in the current ED lore and for that reason they might dissapear again (or take control of everything), who knows ?

Agreed, I guess after the conflict there's going to be a cold war coming up, with new and existing players free to dip into that war/conflict whenever they choose. With related missions to boot:

Transport 13 Thargoids for Diplomatic Talks with Federation - 3.5M CR.

Yes, of course the "Unknown Conflict Zone's" will still be around after they slap them in. It'd take time and effort to remove them.

The genocide will be complete within a week. Humanity does not countenance hostile threats.

P.S. Whenever someone calls the game ED all I can think of is erectile dysfunction.

I'm working on the PS4 Federation rank at Admiral (one more) , King at the Empire (two more) and allied with the Alliance (already there). It may not help with the Thargoids but it probably couldn't hurt to test it when they show up. Something to do for now.
