Will the game be shutting down anytime soon

Not as far as we know.
Consoles are in maintenance mod, they won't be updated further unless (officially) for major gamebreaking bugs. They won't see new content, new ship, new features. The game will stay as is for console.
The development will continue for PC and nearly full account transfer will be available if you chose to continue on pc. If you don't want to, or can't, then that's about it.
Servers are super cheap to stay open, since they are likely global servers they use for all their games, so it's unlikely to close anytime soon.

How about we switch those around and make everybody happy?
The devs have very clearly stated that the servers and game is most DEFINITELY not shutting down on consoles. Arf went as far to confirm that he's a console player too.
The only change is that Odyssey won't be released for it.
I'd have concerns that @Rubbernuke would go to Cambridge to make some real Kumo burgers if that happened.
Shut down next Tuesday.
I will be shocked if this isnt the last paid DLC for Elite. We shall see.

I heard that there were a handful of new ships coming as an Odyssey exclusive (as were some ships Horizons exclusives) and that they will have interiors too!

Well to be specific, Horizons PC is also being ceased in development, it is also in maintenance mode too and only Odyssey PC will continue on.
