Will the thargoids be good for exploration

Talking to CDR AGONY AUNT this afternoon about thargoids got me thinking about Where are they coming from..?

If they can get to the milky way will we be able to get to their home galaxy using the same tech they have used to get here

I am hoping they come from andromeda that i see regularly out the corner of my eye but know i cannot reach unless there is a major break through in space travel

Hi Dognosh

Was i the one at the bottom of the photo ..i think i was near heart and soul at the time ..which was the mysterious ship?

I just hope they won't be in every other system interdicting explorers like if there's no tomorrow. I already had a bad encounter in the Pleiades, when an NPC anaconda interdicted me and i already had shields down. By fortune after scanning my cargo i wich was empty it went away becouse i was useless. Yes, travel 600Ly to interdict someone and find an empty cargo. I would kill out of rage, by fortune that npc was pacifist!!!!

Basically, i'm ok with Thargoids and any other danger they can introduce, as long as they give us ways to predict/escape/avoid them.

Escaping interdiction isn't that difficult, whether in SC or by submitting. I evade 80% of the time, otherwise I just submit, fire a chaff or boost like hell while spooling the FSD. Interdiction is easy to escape in so many ways, especially a slowbie Anaconda. I haven't tried using mines yet, but I'm sure they'd do some serious damage if they are static and designed to deter pursuit.

edit, Intergalactic travel would definitely open up the game even more! But I would almost prefer it if the thargoids were hiding the large megellanic clouds (2 blue dwarf galaxies) in high orbit of the Milky Way. It would be very cool to travel there and see our galaxy from above.

Semi off topic. Mines are pretty useless, I was thinking those should be great for traders and non combat explorers, but it seems they hardly do any damage to shields which make them useless if you are running away.

An old video I found when I was looking into this weapon, but I don't think they have been improved after this:

Thanks for the video! I wonder if mine damage scales better with class and volume? Class 1 lasers are pretty pathetic against better ships, and it looked like he was in a Cobra only getting hit by 1 mine.

There are only small and medium mines so it doesn't look that good. Was wondering if speed has any impact on damage. In the video he only nudged it with almost zero speed. Maybe I'll do a test run when I get back. In theory it should be a avoidable but massive damage dealer, perfect for running. The pursuer has every chance of avoiding it but it will be a hassle.
