Will there be a Planet Zoo 2?

Seeing the great reception that Planet Zoo has had, is it possible to think of a Planet Zoo 2 for the future? I think so, and I am sure that it would be another great success, because these types of games are very entertaining and at the same time they are educational and make us aware of the problems we are experiencing at the moment.
These games teach us that if we are not careful, many animal species will unfortunately become extinct and we must all fight together to prevent this from happening, we do not have much time left and we need the will of all to want to solve this terrible world problem

To be completely honest, I don't think we're getting sequels at all, and I don't quite understand why so many people assume that we are (Not only PZ, but people are also looking for PC and JWE sequels).

There's no basis for it afaik, and if it were to happen then I wouldn't expect any news earlier than 5 or more years from now

I'd say it would be better and more possible if they released another theme park creator with planet zoo standard. Many people would like to see dinos in PZ, so maybe they would make Planet Dino? As much as I liked their Jurassic World, it is not even close to PZ and the only advantage it has are said reptiles - so if they could make everything else up to PZ standard - I would buy such game so much!

As for PZ2 - I'd say it is not likely at the moment, they are in perfect spot to release DLCs for next 10 years and make money this way - it is much easier for them, much more requested by community and much more profitable, since I believe PZ is such a good game there is no need for people to buy the same game again only because it has "2" in the name

I hope you are right with this. But except for the sims, almost no game gets more than 2 or 3 years of dlc support. And with the (for me not understandable) backlash the game is getting, I'm worried about the sequel future.

I for one am here to stay for as many good dlcs or PZ sequels as may come. I found my game for life and I have no problem playing the same game for decades.

I am happy if they update the current game with more DLCs regularly and also do some bug fixes. And may be some texture improvement in some animals. And I think human models need little more realistic rather than cartoony.

Of course a future PZ 2 should be a better game in almosto every possible way, with obviusly a better graphic. But I hope they could still make ths one better and better with updates for 2/3 years, it's already a great game and better than it used to be, but in 5 yeras it would be old

Somewhere in 10 years time there is a possibility there would come a PZ2.

Won't be there for at least 5 years though.

Depends, I still play Planco, is 4 years old, and does not feel old in any way for me. (edit) (Wouldn't want people to think it's not my opinion.).

As frontier developed "many" coaster and zoo related games in the past, I'm sure they will do in the future (besides a possible zombie apocalypse or a invasion of cow hunting aliens).
Maybe with a new name, maybe with a "2" or "reloaded" or "extended" or "mega giga maxed special version with mustard and honey".

Personally think it all depends on the sales figures for example the next 2 years.
For both the game/DLC.

PC hasn't received a new DLC for almost a year - maybe something is coming. (i know about the console release for summer 2020 but for pc ?)
JWE could be different because it's somewhat tied to the license/movies. If a new movie comes out, popularity for the game will increase again.

PZ2 don't expect anything in the next 5-10 years. But also considering the whole COVID19 situation, we don't know how this will affect certain industries.
Maybe DLC strategies will be different in the upcoming years.

Content-wise they've got enough for 10 years. I'm still leaning towards 2-3 years, like other games (as mentioned before)

Most people already know this and I don't think people are buying for educational purposes. They just want to design their own zoo and watch animals enjoy their zoo.
(i know a lot of people barely use the zoopedia, only for some statistics like age/fertility)

Of course. I mean they could do that for 10 years, not that they should or will. And I agree, 2-3 years is much more possible than 10, even if they will have potential for 7-years-worth of content they will never start working on.

Whether it's Planco 2 or Planzoo 2...sure...you can say "give it 5-10 years" all you want...

...BUT...

...Might I remind you that Elite Dangerous is almost 10 years old and even today, not once has a sequel been hinted? Why not? It's simple really, they don't need to make a sequel. Provided all 3 games have the capability to be updated and therefore have fixes, changes and additions made here and there...a sequel is pretty pointless, at least in my opinion.

I think 10 yrs of support is a little optimistic. I mean look at Planco. Support has been lacking since the ghostbusters dlc release I guess will see if they add to it once it’s released on console. I do fully expect sequels tho. I actually remember reading a article a couple yrs ago that frontier was going to invest in their titles that sell and produce which at the time made it sound like sequels to and investing in titles that sold well. I’m sure will see some new titles here and there but I fully expect a Planco 2 as there’s no reason not to. JWE? That I wouldn’t be surprised but me personally I’d rather have it made into a planet series without the limitations of a outside party kinda like zoo tycoon 2013 was hampered by Microsoft. As for planet zoo 2 of course some day but that’s yrs away and not really worth thinking about at the moment.

Ehm, Elite Dangerous is not almost 10 years old. Just 5-6 years. But they did confirm a 10 year development plan (edit: years ago), so it wouldn't make sense to hint a sequel.
You can't fairly compare MMO with a regular game. Quite a few MMO have +10 years support but they could easily pull the plug when they decide it's done.

Yeah for some reason I thought its release date was 2011, my bad  5-6 years is still near enough though so on top of what you mentioned about the 10 year dev plan, the point made still more or less stands. :)

My theory on sequels is simple - there have been complains made about Coaster's features (the pathing system, the way guests work, and so on) that were never addressed in Zoo, which is built on the same game engine (Cobra Engine). What this implies is that those certain features simply can't be changed within the current game parameters. In other words, the Cobra Engine in its current form is too restrictive to fix every problem the community wants fixed.

So, I think we will get sequels one day, either built upon an improved Cobra Engine, or a new engine, where they are able to address some of these ongoing problems and improve upon them.

As great as the Game is, and a lot of add-ons Animals etc to come. A few things need sorting, The Game Speed for one i want a slower pace of game, adjustable of course. One reason i do not play, as much, fed up with things going so quick. Already turned the Animals aging to 5. Another thing i would like to see is an Editor, as a lot of building pieces, is going to fill the list too much, but a lot more are needed, or make them adjustable so you can get that fit u want.
As for Planet Zoo 2, i can not see any need, when this Game has so much to offer, and a lot more to come.

Most of the problems you are talking about can't be fixed in the current iteration of the game, though. Which is why I think we will get sequels to the Planet games eventually.

True there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done for this game. Many of the things promised at launch are not even in the game yet. With the dlcs and patches coming there are probably still 2 more years worth of content for this game.
