Will this end up like Zoo Tycoon (2013)? Please address this.

Hello Frontier. Everything I've seen from Planet Coaster looks beautiful, but I'm getting a Zoo Tycoon (2013 reboot) vibe from it, and I know you guys developed that game for the Xbox. Will Planet Coaster be a full, fleshed out, theme park sim similar to your previous title Rollercoaster Tycoon 3? Because if Planet Coaster is Zoo Tycoon except it's a theme park, that wouldn't be good...

My best educated guess is this:

They're using a similar pathing mechanism from ZT2013.
Very similar art style
And that's about it.

Since they own the IP to Planet Coaster, I expect they'll definitely give us the experience we want, I highly doubt they would shoot themselves in the foot considering that this could be the next big release that they may ever have.

I'm calling it now, it's going to be like the Simcity and Cities Skylines release all over again.

I don't think so. They've called it the spiritual successor to RCT3, which makes me think this will be a full-on game, complete with a sandbox mode and everything else.

I can't speak for the team myself, being a volunteer moderator from the community, but the impression I got from them was good :)
They are aiming for a very complex level of simulation in every aspect of the game, it's looking glorious [big grin]

Don't worry. Zoo Tycoon worked very differently. PC will be how you create it.
To support this thought just read the front page text again:
"Planet Coaster is the future of coaster park simulation games. We’ve created a living world where every guest is an individual with their own personality and money in their pocket. We’re giving you limitless freedom to build rides and scenery piece by piece, and to seamlessly blend them with your own hand-sculpted terrain. We’re building a connected global village where everyone can share in your creativity. And that’s just the start.
We hope you’ll join us to dream, build and share the ultimate coaster parks in Planet Coaster."

Oh god no, we talked about this is another thread. Please, if anyone from Frontier is reading this, path placement is a must have in a theme park sim. The path system in Zoo Tycoon worked because of the limitations of using a controller over a mouse and keyboard.
