That name actually suits the look of the DiamondBack. lol
I am also really hoping for this as well. I like the style of Lakon cockpits, most notably for exploration. I hope it's like an Asp grown up to the Python's level. High jump range and good all around fitting capabilities. I really hope it retains medium landing pad status like the Python as well. Only time will tell.
Could it be that the "Unannounced" ship in this photo is the diamondback?

I think that is supposed to be a very early concept of the vulture.
If that was the Vulture, then they surely have uglified it in the meantime. Those big metal slabs to the left and right of the cockpit do the ship no favour.
That's amazing. I can recall when the ship roster image first surfaced with no names and recognition. The excitement and the buzz that that generated! now we take it for granted. Good times.

Also for the record Diamondback is the name of the Rattlesnake. Those are some really evil animals I hope they give the ship bite to match the name that goes with it and then maybe people will finally start to fear it.

I sure hope this thing turns out to be a BUT (Big, Ugly, Tank) or a true assault ship. All of the capital style ships of the game are these somewhat sleek, beautifully designed ships, but where's the blue collar work horse, or the cheap ship that remote world engineers can turn into a flying beast? I think back to the days of my first space love, Privateer. You could buy the Orion for almost nothing (second most inexpensive ship in the game), but because it was so tough and versatile, you could literally complete the entire storyline with just that ship. This game sorely needs that element, especially in the Alliance factions.
