Will uninstall lose save progress?

Apologies in advance as I'm sure this has come up before, but a quick search couldn't find the answer to this query.

I have encountered a bug which is preventing me from getting into the game (has just been duly logged on the reporting forum). I am tempted to uninstall in an attempt to fix, but will I lose my save progress, by doing so? Or is this up in the cloud somewhere, ready for me to resume when I reinstall?

I've been grinding it out pretty much since Early Access launch and I really don't want to lose my ship, credits, etc if that is going to be a consequence of uninstalling.

Many thanks.

Nope. Uninstall/Reinstall away!

Thankfully, our ED save files are stored on the XBL CLOUD SERVER and are protected from the dangers of corruption caused by all the crashing and other stability related issues with this current build of the game.

I've personally uninstalled and reinstalled this build nearly a dozen times since it was released on the 26th of last month, and there is never a problem with my saved progress, credit balance, ship load outs etc.

Thank you both gents for a quick reply.

Unfortunately it hasn't fixed the underlying problem and I still can't get into the game, but I was confident in uninstalling on your advices.

It seems the game is having trouble loading your save. I would suggest filing a support ticket, as they usually respond within 72 hours.

As far as I know, saves are saved to their servers, and your save might be corrupted. They could possibly revert it back to an earlier time before the corruption (you might lose some progress) or tell you it's not salvageable and you have to start over.

Thanks again for the help.

I've opened up a ticket and asked them to look into it.

Really appreciate you following up. Fingers crossed!

Good luck with this! I've never had an issue like the one you are having, so I can't offer any advice in this area. Hopefully the FD guys can get to the bottom of the problem.

Are you getting any kind of server messages down in the lower left corner of your HDTV screen?

None that I can see (though the very edges of the screen do seem to be cut off - I noticed someone else asking for a screen resize option on a different thread).

I don't pretend to be an expert, but now EmptyVoid95 suggested it, a save corruption might well be the cause. I've hard reset the console; reinstalled twice; and the game does move, including in the training missions - just doesn't boot my particular game.

So the team got it sorted.

It was indeed a save state issue and they needed to do some tweaking.

Many thanks to the guys at Frontier who were very helpful, and came back twice very quickly (over the weekend, I might add).

Hey bud sorry this has happened. Good news. Though. I too had same issue. It was in fact my save file, the game seemed to have crashed while it was auto saving. With my ticket to the devs they contacted me in a day and a half, and I was able to load the last save before the crash. I hope you too have success in this.

See you back in the black soon

I'd be surprised if it had anything to do with your save file. As I said, these are saved and stored on the CLOUD SERVER on XBL. If there was a problem with your save file, you would get an error from XBL saying that "It could not SYNC your SAVE DATA". That would have to happen if there was a save file issue, and as I said, considering my copy has crashed well over 100 times so far since the 26th, if the save file had the potential to become corrupted, I am sure I would have had it happen to me by now.

Have you had any DATA SYNC ERRORS? This would come in the form of a POP-UP message from the XBL/Dashboard system as the game is loading, and before you are presented with the splash screen that asks you to "HIT A" to load.

I should also mention that occasional "LATENCY" with your connection can cause a delay in data sync with your save file and result in a similar message, but this isn't the same thing. A file corruption would be a constant pop-up every single time you attempted to load the game, and it would appear at the same exact point in the loading process.

I wouldn't worry about that being the problem. Perhaps power down all you home network gear for a few minutes and do a cold start on that, along with the same on the XB1.
