will using Valve Proton get me banned?

ever since i got my new computer, i have just been unable to get windows 10 to work at all. but Linux tends to run fine.
valve makes a tool to run windows games on Linux, called "proton"

i have seen other games consider use of proton as an unauthorized method of playing a game and ban anybody caught doing it.
is this the case with Elite Dangerous? or do we linux users have the okay from Frontier to play the game with Proton? assuming we can get it to work.

There's a linux users thread somewhere in this forum. I'd imagine if it was ban worthy, they'd lock the thread. Also people have been using linux for a little while without issues:

Going where no Steam Play has gone before with Elite Dangerous

Some of the links in that article reference some setup tips, etc. I'm not using proton, just vanilla wine. All I needed was dotnet 4.5, dxvk, and mscore fonts to get the game to work. I then had to disable SDL in the wine\proton "windows registry" to get ED to recognize my joystick. I basically followed the tips in the comments. I'm not very tech savy.

FYI, EDMC is supposed to work in linux (I've had no luck), Eddiscovery does as well with wine/proton (just needs dotnet 4.5)

Good luck
