Greetings,
Maybe not. Flying a Thargoid Warship was possible in Frontier: First Encounters after completing extensive handcoded missions. It had more bugs than a hot summer day in a Florida swamp and took players to edit the code and make it possible. Even then the specifications were awful flying it in the game. IN ED handcoded missions have been replaced with softer Community Goals which are not being all that programmed at the moment. Still there were ED CGs in the past where after participating a player could purchase an Imperial Clipper at 25 percent off. The CG was designed to assist the player to have the Imperial rank to do this.
With the release of fleet carriers with 25,000 capacity we may never see the Panther Clipper. Maybe per current ED design it won't fit in an orbiting station holding more than a Type-9. Still I love the rotating engine nacelles so we'll have to fly Keelbacks and the Alliance series ships having these abilities. It's an emotional thing for past players.
For me the fleet carriers are a brilliant upgrade to the Long Range Cruiser and the Lynx Bulk Carrier in FFE that players could not normally fly without editing the code. Even then they were not much use only flying them around at slow speeds.
Meanwhile...Did Colin De Rouin ever fly a Panther Clipper in Frontier: Elite II? He was the art director for the TV series 'Firefly'.
Regards
